OK here is my question. my girlfriend is buying a 93 probe built for show with alot of work done to it. the people that she is buying it from says that they have a switch to turn off the turbo. is this good for the turbo not to allow it to spool up and do what it is suppose to?

I've never heard of a "switch" to turn the turbo on and off. Matter of fact the only thing I've heard of a switch being on is an engine blown blower motor. The only possible way that I'm aware of for the turbo not to engage is having the wastegate open preventing the turbocharger from building any boost, which shouldnt cause any harm because you're not building any boost anyways. You better look into that car more before buying it. Sounds to me they might possibly be trying to feed you some bull on a few things. I'd like to know though if anyone on here has heard of a "switch" for the turbocharger.

1. This should be moved to the hangout since it's not dsm-related.

2. What those people have told you is complete hogwash. You cannot turn off a turbo. You might be able to dial down boost to whatever the wastegate spring pressure is, but you cannot completely shut it off so that you're not boosting at all.

3. If they can lie to you about the turbo, who knows what else they're lying about? Don't buy this car, just walk away from it. Now.

my girlfriend already bought the car i didnt look at it her father did. but he always has his head up his ass anyway. also i didnt thinks that there was a way to shut it off thanks though i will let you know what happens when i get a good look at it
