to make a long story short:

TRE stage 3 trans--

Had to replace the input shaft bearing in my trans about 5 months ago. When I did this, I disassembled the trans (gears and everything still on the shafts, never removed) and only had to remove the inner race off the ISB since the whole thing was grenaded... pressed the new ISB onto the shaft, reassembled everything and that was it.

I did NOT measure anything upon reassembly. There were a few shims in the tranny which I replaced in the exact spot/direction. All I did was replace the ISB and didnt touch anything else so I figured nothing else would have been affected.

Fast forward-- I installed a 6puck unsprung clutch with a fidanza flywheel. When I was in neutral I could rev the car and get no sound. If I was in gear and got to about 3k rpms I would get a horrible vibration noise. Same as when I was on decel. You ever hear a car with a loud sound system and the trunk rattled? it sounded like the trunk rattle---

question is: was that a clutch chatter sound? or is there some sort of measurement issue inside the trans that caused the noise? The trans is out the car now since im doing a motor swap, but I just want to know if I need to disassemble the trans to check things or if it was the common sound issue we have with lightweight FWs and unsprung puck clutches.

I guess that wasnt the short version LOL-- sorry :sosad:

Would this also give me the same sound as if the ISB was bad? Meaning it had a small noise when the clutch not being pressed, but as soon as I pressed the clutch in it went away-- it wasnt as loud as when the bearing went bad, but its a similar noise in a similar situation. I know some puck clutches have a rattle at idle
