no vacuum

I just did a 6 bolt/2.3 swap into a 97. The car starts and runs but I'm not getting any vacuum any where. The boost gauge is reading 6hg at idle. I searched and I found that only one my problem may be similar to mine. I used the stock t-belt and I put 272's in it as well. Other then that every thing else is correct. Is there anything else to look into for the no vacuum situation?

Where are you checking for vacuum? Checked for vacuum leaks?

Well, In. Hg. is vacuum (inches of mercury). So it seems like you are seeing vacuum, just not that much.

What boost gauge do you have?
What did you tee into for the boost gauge's source?
Have you done a boost leak test yet?

Im havin the same problem. I have a 96 GST andn I just installed BC 272's. all of sudden, my vacuum is at 10hg. I know the ideal vac should be btw 18 and 22.

I did a boost leak test and have no leaks. My friend thinks that cams arent keepin the intake valves open long enuff to get a proper vacuum. I dont know what else to do. Help Please...

Thanks I didnt realize that the cams automatically advanced my timing... But they need to be tuned. Im not sure how far ahead they're advanced.
