can anyone tell me why the teeth on my timing belt stripped off and why there were no teeth on my balance shaft belt

well the motor is rebuilt and only has 3000 miles on it but it had been sitting for 3 years cause the seals went bad in the turbo. it has a power stearing leak in the high preasure hose and I thoght that might have caused the timing belt to strip

I'd doubt it.

From the sounds of it, just guessing here, but since the BS belt is also stripped, I'd assume that the BS bearings went south, causing the BS to lock up, stripping the teeth, and moving into the Tbelt, stripping it also.

Either that, or there may have been too much timing belt tension, resulting in this. I have heard of this happening.

well I got everything put on today and when I start the car theres a loud knocking or tapping so I guess I have to replace some valves

Why would you start it when you knew the timing belt was stripped?!?!? OMG

I also forgot to say that during the comp. test all cylenders was the same around 130 and while the test you couldnt hear the tapping but when you put spark to it and crank the car you can hear the tapping
