So after searching the forums I have pretty much came out with the conclusion that my ECU must be bad. I recently did a full engine rebuild along with an auto to manual swap. The problem that has arisen is that im not getting any spark. I crank the engine and it turns over fine. Checked the timing, its dead on. Checked my msd coil pack even though its brand new the resistance was 13 ohms, which is fine. I am getting power to the coil, but no spark. Crank sensor is good and plugged in along with camshaft position sensor. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and how was it fixed? Thanks JJ

How do you know they're good? Are they switching properly? Do you have fuel? ASD/fuel relays connected? Anything having to do with the ATX still conected?

The cam sensor is brand new. and the crank sensor is within spec ohms wise. I am getting plenty of fuel.. in fact could I be getting to much? ASD/fuel relays are connected and you can hear them click. And what do you mean by having the ATX still connected?

You're saying MSD coil packs...I'm assuming that you have the MSD box that goes along with it? If not, the MSD coils require so much more power to create spark that the stock ignition systme is often not enough and a "booster" is needed to work in tandem with the coil packs.

For instance, we installed MSD packs on a cavalier with no spark resulting. We had to add the MSD DIS-2 module to power those packs.

If you already have that, then no spark could be:

1- Faulty CAS
2- Faulty Wires
3- Faulty resistor pack
4- Faulty ECU
5- Faulty Water Temp Sensor

You checked your timing yet with no spark? Just for our sakes, put the stock coil packs on and see what happens. You have either encountered a part that has failed, or an improper installation or a bad connection. What do the plugs look like? Are they wet? Take a test light and probe your injector harness. Key on you should have 12 volts to one of the wires. Now, put the test light on the positive post and probe the other wire. Steady or no light means the pcm is not responding. I've seen the engine fuse blow and it won't start for sure. Make sure like Brian said that your asd is sending the voltage out properly. You will have to have a schematic to find the grounding wire from the pcm to the asd relay. Remember, electrically 2g nt's are more like cirrus/ stratus than eclipse.

Good Luck

Haha. Well figured it out. Check twice, adjust once.. Timing was off.... seeing there are 4 timing marks on aem cam gears its possible to mess up. My error guys sorry. Were see if it starts once I get it fixed. Thanks for the help tho.

He has already found the problem but to clear this up, he has a 420a, not a 4g63. Msd makes a bolt on replacement coil pack for the 420a that doesnt require an msd box to work properly. The 420a also doesnt have the resistor pack. I assume that you were thinking it was a turbo, huh?
