Okay where do I start. Cylinders 1 and 4 are getting spark, and cyl 2 and 3 no spark. Me and my friend thought it could be the coil pack and or the power transistor (ignitor). Replaced both of thoes and nothing

So our second guess was wires and plugs. Replaced thoes and same result. Then was the cas Cam Angle Sensor. Still same deal. I checked my grounds and looks okay. Some ppl told me thou that they had cars run without some grounds so should be okay. Also replaced coil pack with a new one.

So the things we thought could be wrong : cas, ignitor, plugs, wires, coild pack. Ecu, and wireing inbetween ecu and cas.

The only thing left to check is the wireing. And the ecu. I heard if the CAS isint working the car wouldn't even run cause the cas tells the ecu when to fire each cylinder.

I also read that someone switch the plugs going into the coild pack from 4-1-2-3 to 3-2-1-4... do you think I could do that? I took apart my ecu and looked at it and seemed fine. Don't really know what I was looking for but didn't seem abnormally wrong. Also if my wires were bad to the ecu I would assume something else would be wrong so I don't think wires are bad. Please help I'm at a stand still and juss want my car to run right. Thanks =)

Also my car is a 1990 eclipse gst thanks

Look for burn spots and leaky caps on the ecu...That could be the problem, or if you know someone that has a good "Known" working ecu swap them out and see if it changes. And definetely make sure your spark plugs wires are in the correct firing order. Had mine mixed all up and couldnt figure it out for weeks, now i have alot of extra parts.:D

Okay ill do that when I get home , so take the mother off of the metal case for it and look underneith of it. What are the caps.. the black cylinder looking things kinda in the middle that stick out?

Caps are all those building looking things. every last one of them on the board is a cap that sticks up..But yea take that cover off(4 screws) and then look at the caps inspect them and then take the board off the bottom plate(4 more screws) and check for burn spots

Okay I took apart my ecu and looks alright but the cap closest to the connectors kinda sorta lookds like its was leaky? Looks like a verry small tint of something is on there. Verry hard to tell.. if something was wrong with the caps would it be verry noticiblee. Ugh. I'm getting sad.

Okayy. Thers like no visible burn marks on there like verry noticible ones. On the back looks maybe a little yellowish I could say. I wish I couls post a pic but I'm on my phone don't know how to do that. But this person on newenglanddsm would sell me a 1990 ecu for 180. But if its not the ecu I just wasted 180 bucks. I'm gonna try and beg to see if hell let me test it haha.

it would just be an extra...i have so many parts i have bought that i thought i need but im glad i have them because you never know what will go next. Or what u could also try is, take the transitor out unscrew it and clean it even the socket part, and clean the coil pack to where the spark plug wires plug in at..Try that too.....U didnt flip the cas the wrong way did u?

Ummm LOL I don't believe soo I just went outside to take a look at the wires going into the cas are under the circualr thing. So I assume its not flipped but I bought new coil pack and new power transistor. What fires 1 and 4 and what fires 2 and 3.. the cas fires 2 and 3?

if you have spark on 1 and 4 then the 2 and 3 coil is no good

the first 2 left to right are 1 and 4 second i beleve are 2 and 3

Would it matter if it was a brand new coil pack from advanced auto. I payed 180 new for it juss cause its new. And I put another coil pack in, a used one and still 2 and 3 were down..

But I'm gonna go to advanced and return that coil pack and get a new one. I will update when I put in the new coils. Is that the only thing that could make it run on 1 and 4 thou or would my ecu be in the question.. I looked at it and seemed fine. But you never know. I could buy one off a friend but would have to spend the money if mine is in working order. I guess if the new coils don't work result into new ecu?

Dude, I am having the VERY, same exact problem you are having for this past week. And God knows how much stuff I have tried.

My thread:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/375364-electrical-2g-problem.html

So at this point, I've gotten to the point where I am at a loss.

Long story short. I was cruising home around 40MPH, and the car out of no where has a huge loss of power, rpm drops drastically, and the car is shaking as if it had a tremendous boost leak/blown coupler.

I am not getting spark in Cylinder 2 or 3 from the coil pack, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I have spent 2 full days on this, and I'm really losing hope here.

"Here are things that have already been done,

-Changed Coil Pack (3 different ones that I know work)
-Changed Power Transistor
-Changed CAS (6 bolt CAS on a 7-bolt motor)
-Changed Spark Plugs (Gapped correctly, but this is not even the problem as there is no spark reaching the Spark Plug)
-Changed Spark Plug Wires
-Checked all wires, fuses for any signs of shorts or bare wire, and all grounds were double checked.

Firing order is correct, and I'm getting fuel. The problem is there is no spark coming out from the coil to the spark plug wire for Cly 2 & 3."

Defiantly subscribing to this thread. I will let you know if I do come up with a solution, and don't hesitate to post one if you figure something out!

so i fixed my car today!! it was the connector to the power transistor. one of the wires was not in the pin to the connector. pulled back the rubber part of the boot to find that. put the wire back into the pin and clamped it down and boom running on 4 cyliners and all smiles on my face and my friends. =)

so the wire was just loose out of the socket/harness clip like dingling out? i have the same problem but i think mine is oxidized so i gota get a cleaner to clean that harness clip.
