Washington,
So a slight change after checking some things today. There is oil in the side mount intercooler, also oil in the upper intercooler pipe. NO shaft play in the turbo. Started the car up- drove it hard for 20 minutes or so and NO SMOKE. I then stopped the car for about 10 minutes and got back in- boosted it hard and I see smoke then it goes away. Couldn't tell the color or the smell as there wasn't much of it. Any ideas? Am I just running rich and it was carbon in the tailpipe being burned off (seen that before in my other turbo cars)???

I apologize for the new thread but figured the turbo is not the issue here. I will do a compression test this weekend.

First off, do the free things first. Remove all your intercooler pipes and intercooler and thoroughly clean them out real good with normal gasoline till the gas pours out clean.
After putting your pipes and intercooler all together, make sure you tighten all your clamps really good to prevent any possible boost leaks.
I had a 91 tsi awd once, my couplers weren't tightened good, blew open, and my car would boost poorly and start shooting black smoke. Fixed the coupler problem and the smoke was gone.
Let me know if it works.

Sorry guys- didn't have a chance to check this. Let me elaborate here:

I picked the car up 2 days ago and initially driving it (first 5 minutes) it smoked a huge cloud for about 2 minutes.

Afterwards I drove it home 40 miles w/no issues. Yesterday I drove it for about an hour VERY HARD and the car didn't smoke any. When the turbo starts boosting- there is a weird hesitation (almost like having a bubble on my tire, clunk clunk). The car doesn't idle 100% smoothly. I checked the turbo for shaft play- there is none. There is oil in the smic, there is evidence of oil in the stock bov when checking the uicp. Maybe i'll get lucky and the car only needs a tune up. I will clean the smic and piping out this weekend.

Yeah i have the same problem. I just changed the wires and plugs to NGK's and she runs like a champ. I have the problem with the car smoking too. Its not all the time, just every so often usually after a hard run or at start up. I noticed that their was oil coming off the cold side discharge into my SMIC and into my intake. I'm not sure if my T25 is bad, most likely, but their is also the change that since i don't have an oil catch can on my valve cover its blowing oil into the intake and so on. Just a couple of things to look into.

No, this car has the original t-25 on it. I need to update that profile. This is a new purchase.
