Did a boost leak test, I had a leak where the stock piping and the TB elbow connect. It's fixed. I hear a hissing like there is air going into the oil pan though. We boost leak tested to 20 psi on an air compressor. My car is running rich, black smoke when trying to accelerate (I say try because the car does not exceed 20 mph when driving, no matter what gear, and it will not exceed 1.7k rpms). When in neutral, it goes to 2k rpms and takes awhile before it goes above it and then it will free rev as long as it is above 3k rpms. It's an Auto, 93,000 miles. Timing is on point. Mods are in Profile. Anyone know how to load a video?! I have 3 vids, poor quality so bare the bone please.

I've replaced Maf, MDP, o2 sensor, turbo, plugs, wires, injectors, TPS sensor, sensors, & etc.

Just swapped to a 14b and it seemed to help with the black smoke at idle. I think the t25 was blown because my car looked like a diesel truck at idle.

Only parts I havent replaced is the Throttle Body. I have not done a Compression Test yet, but I will soon. My car originally would only start by spraying Starting Fluid in it. After the turbo install and boost leak fix, it starts by itself now.

Mods:
14b w/tial external wastegate
560cc evo injectors
EBC
SAFC
190 walbro

possibly the tranny took a crap? Any noise coming from that? check your Vechicle Speed Sensor. after reading def do a compression check.

Check to make sure the speed sensor is connected and in working condition. Can do some funny things to a car when not working properly.

Is it possibly your SAFC values got messed up (erased)?

When did the problem first start?

i know you said you changed your injectors, but it sounds like they are frozen open. my car ran exactly the same way, and it was frozen injectors.

also check your fuel filter, i know it sounds dumb, but when it clogs up it will jack all kinds of things up.

And by the way, Black smoke is FUEL. So your car is definatly getting way to much fuel, If it's smoking a constant black. Running rich will definatly cause your car to sputter/run incorrectly.

Fuel filter was changed recently, but I'll go ahead and order a mitsu one. The SAFC is zeroed out. And the car ran the same way on the 450's and the 560's. This problem was there before the swap and change of the MAF. Has been happening for a good 6 months, thats why it has been down.

No noise coming from the tranny. It has fluid, I doubt it's that.

The car idles with NO black smoke.

Could a TPS sensor cause this? I never re calibrated it. I'm going to test it soon as I get the ohmmeter thingy.

As I said I can rev it all the way to 6k rpms after I hold the pedal for awhile, during so it blows out a bit of black smoke. BUT before I changed the MAF sensor, it smoked heavily.

A clogged cat wouldn't cause this right?

I will take any and all suggestions, it's been far too long and I need this car back on the road. How should I load a video up from my computer? What web source should I use??

I am very suprised you don't need ANY fuel control for the much larger injectors.. (I know you have an safc but it's zero'd out). I would think that the car would run poorly, With it like this, Dumping way to much fuel.

The car ran like this before the "much bigger injectors". I doubt it is that. Did I mention the SAFC reads 100% throttle position? Again, could this cause a problem with or without the addition of the extra fuel from the 560's?

honnestly if you dont have the mods for bigger injectors then you shouldnt be running them. you need a wideband your cars way to rich. the way your tuning is a big guessing game.

Why does the car lope as though it has cams? Did you check to make sure your timing is correct?

I do not know. We checked the plugs, they are black from running rich. I'm going to invest in new plugs. Check Compression, Timing, and the fuel filter next week. Even when my timing was advanced, it only stalled... but with gas it was pulling hard. The car drove perfectly fine other than it didn't start by itself 6 months ago.

After this shop called AK Imports had it, it's running extremely poor. The only thing they did was swap the pump from a 255 to a 190 and changed my oil.

talon187 - Your saying I can't tune my car without a wideband? Even if I have a logger? I know having a wideband helps tremendously. But I still doubt that is the problem. There are tons of universal settings I can use for the 560s since they are used quite often. I'm not trying to tune yet, I'm trying to make the car run.

Video of me driving:

Make sure you have the right tps in the car. My 95 had the exact same problem until I discovered the previous owner had installed a tps from a different car. The pin outs were exactly opposite of what a DSM needs, I think a Talon is -OS+ top to bottom and the sensor installed on my car was +SO-. If yours isn't marked swap in a known working one from another car. In my case the sensor was shorting out the ECU and indicating the throttle was at 100% when it was at idle. Here were the other symptoms...

Radiator fan on all the time ( due to shorted sensor)
raw fuel coming out tail pipe
a lot of black smoke
black plugs
no power and rough idle

I would also try taking the AFC off to see if the car runs better without it. A friend with a 1G had similar problems that turned out to be bad AFC wiring, you may just have one of the signal wires from the TPS to the ECU shorting out.

A clogged cat could cause this but I have only seen it once and it was on a Jeep Wrangler.

There is definately something wrong with the SAFC if its reading 100% trottle all the time! It should read in conjunction with how much the gas pedal.

Also, double check all your base setting on your SAFC.

Arrow is Upwards towards the Right, 4 cylinder, Karmen sensor, 0 settings all the way through the rpms.

Parts I have not swapped: Transistor pack, ISC, IAC, coil pack, throttle body, and I think there are a few more.

I will check the fuses and the wiring on the SAFC.

The TPS though, was never tested and was not installed by me. So chances are, old dude jacked something up.

just go buy a tps, put it on, if that doesnt help, take it back and say you didnt install it, and you found it cheaper somewhere else, they'll take it back

Needed to rebuild my ecu. Had a blown capacitor. Car runs fine now. Now I'm getting some bucking in 1st gear accelerating with about 40%+ load above 5k rmps. In 2nd gear I'm getting the same type stuttering/bucking starting from 4.5k rpms at the same load or above.

I'm boggled. New thread or rock this one?
