No oil at head with oil relocation and cooler

Hi,

I fired up my newly built engine for the first time today and soon found out the oil hose from the head to the turbo was cold, we removed the valve cover and saw that the whole head was bone dry.

I have a oil filter relocation kit and an aftermarket oil cooler, so we tried to simply remove this and screw the oil filter directly to the block and cranked the engine without the valve cover, and now there was plenty of oil coming to the head.

I checked the cooler and the relocation and the hoses to see that its all open and i could blow air freely through it.
The dash oil gauge is showing max oil pressure.
The oil pump is new.
Isn`t the oil pump strong enough to be pushing oil through the extra hose length?
Or what could be wrong?

O it is strong enough. Did you route the hoses correctly to the relocation so oil flows through the filter properly.

I didnt think about that, you might be onto something there.

If i did route the hoses to the wrong terminals, is that drain valve stopping oil from going into the engine then?

If you ran your engine dry you may have some bigger problems now, id pull the cam caps and see if they are scored.

Oh, yea i am a bit concerned but i only let it idle for maby a couple minutes.

check your oil once you get it fixed and make sure there are no metal shavings, hope you got lucky!

Might there be any possibility i have damaged anything else in my block? Since i ran it a couple minutes without oil.
