i realized that the 99 eclipse was the last model eclipse that people have and called a dsm...the 2000+ isnt a dsm car?? why?? arent all eclipse's known as "dsm"? or did something change in the company??

acualy 98 was the last real DSM -- a 99 fits just by assosiation :)

but no - all eclipse's are not DSM's

technically the last DSM was 1994, but since Mitsubishi/Chysler already had design plans for the 2g and the 2g ended up sharing many of the characteristics of the 1g motor-wise, the 2g was grandfathered in.

2000+ Eclipses are no longer DSMs because they do not share the same upgrade paths, and the motors are different. There is no turbocharged 3rd gen, the 4g63 motor is no longer used, and the concept of the vehicle was completely mitsubishi.

any "real dsm'er" .. doesnt consider anything n/a to be a dsm.

LOL

I give local guys crap all the time for their 1.8 eclipse/talon/laser cause i dont consider it a dsm. a 1.8 or 2.0 liter doesnt cut it for me.. and isnt a DominantStreetMachine..

My 2 cents..

Luke :dsm:

...just because you consider it not to be a DSM doesn't mean they shouldn't be considered DSMs. I think anyone who can build a fast all motor car is a true tuner in my book.

Sure it can be a tuner .. no one is argueing that .. but a DSM is generally considered a 4g63 Turbo engine.. so calling a 3rd gen a dsm is stupid..

Call it a tuner if you want but its not a DSM

Luke :p

would the starion be considered a DSM?

it was a 4 cylinder torque monster with a turbo and RWD? i know there is probably not one thing the same as the 90 and up eclipse besides the mitsubishi name. but it was there before the eclipse.

how does that fit in?
