After about an hours worth of searching, I gathered everything to check when i got home.

checked:
both hoses from thermostat to firewall are warm
lever/switch moves when turning knob from hot to cold
flushed system with water for 10 min then refilled with 50/50 coolant
new thermostat/waterpipe
waterpump 20k old

i guess the only other thing is the heater core huh? should i flush the system out with some sort of agent?

Does your temp gauge go up? What exactly do u mean by no heat? If ur not getting heat through the vents then it is possible that its the Heater Core. You mentioned a new thermostat, so your temp should be rising.

floor isn't wet and the temp gauge is pegged right where it should be in the middle.

i mean i dont get heat out of the vents. I know it's a common problem and it could be the heater core, but is there anythingi 'm overlooking?

ok just went out and double checked everything.. seemed fine. i even bought prestone radiator flush and am running that in my car for the time being.

here are some pictures of the switches from under the dash. Defiant, how would you see if the flapper was opening or not? i'm looking at manuals and cant figure it out.

both HOT and COLD positions for the switches:

I can't get oriented on your pictures. If the temperature control is moving its lever, and everything's connected, check the engine compartment again and confirm that the heater core's connected and not being bypassed. DSMs have no water control valve on the heater, it's all done with the door on the heater core box like on so many other American cars.

the picture just shows both levers [ the heater control, and the one on the bottom of teh heater core ] at max hot and max cold. i took the pictures cause i was under there, dont know if it would help or not.

how do you check if the heater core is being bypassed?

another guy from NJDSM told me to swap the lines from inside the bay, do you think that would help?

dont mean to bump the thread but i really need help before i throw her back at STS

-BOTH water lines are HOT to touch when motor is warmed up
-I took the most of the dash assembly out and retraced the entire heater control push/pull all the way down to the heater box.. everything is connected and I can hear the door switch when i turn the knob
-RE-flushed the coolant system using prestone radiator cleaner, refilled and retopped off with prestone 50/50
-temp gauges shows a notch below halfway

would the thermostat be causing this problem? reason I ask is because STS replaced my thermostat last time and the heat started working, then all of a sudden is stopped.

Have you pulled the heater core to see if anything is blocking the flow of coolant?

Are there any leaves or debris blocking the flow of air through the heater core?

haven't pulled the core yet, i'm leaving that as my last resort.

It looks like youve reached that point so pull it and get a new one they arent that expensive. Remove the glove box and you can get the core out pretty easy.

well, the car is at STS right now so they'll let me know whatsup tomorrow. if it's something I cant do then ill have them do it. if not, i'll have to get a new heater core from the stealership and install it
