No fuel/pulse, but have spark.

I believe I have narrowed down my problem to the ECM, but I wanted to verify it first because my ECM just got back from ECMtuning a little while ago and I didn't want to send it back to them for nothing.

1992 Galant Vr4.

Was running fine. We swapped the cruise control system back in that had previously been removed and while that was taking place the alarm went off and we had a hard timing turning it off. I only mention this because in case there is some connection I am unaware of, I wanted to state it. Since then the fuel pump is not turning on and we have no injector pulse. The fuel pump does not have power going to it. I have tested the MPI and harness and it is ok. I also checked the majority of the fuses, specifically the ones that could be related.

I am a high school shop teacher and this is a class project. I'm always aware of the X factor of teenagers, so I am trying to make sure I don't overlook something stupid they might have messed up. As far as I understand the CAS would create a no spark scenario, so it should be good.

Any other tests? I have looked through the FSM and have no seen a troubleshooting flow chart. Which was surprising to me. Again, I did follow the diagnosis procedure for the MPI and harness which Alldata had and it concluded that if everything passes that it was an ECM problem or an intermittent problem. And since the problem is constant, ECM looks highly likely. Anyway, last note is that I did pull the ECM and it passed a visual inspection.

I believe the ECM for a GVR4 is different than a regular 1g because of the MAF flow being different. Otherwise I'd try to find one to swap with. Any other ideas?

Have you tried to jump the pump itself to see if the pump itself is bad?
+1 on the CAS testing

What did you have done at ecmtuning? If you got link, you can actuate the pump on/off with the push of a button.

Im also assuming you checked fuses under the hood? what did you do to get the alarm to go away?

For the alarm we finally unlocked the trunk to get it to turn off. People on galanvtvr4.org think it is not related, but I mentioned it just because the car ran fine, we replaced the throttle cable with the cruise control one, the alarm went off, and then nada. So either it was freak timing, or one of those other two events were related.

I can test the CAS, but I was fairly certain it controlled spark (hence why you pull the CAS when doing a compression test in order to disable spark) and since I have spark, that would rule out the CAS.

I have not tested the resistor pack. Will do that today. I also have not checked for engine codes because I don't have an analog volt meter handy. When I turn the key to on the engine light comes on and does not turn off. I thought it'd turn off after 5 seconds. But maybe that is just when it is running.

The fuel pump does work when jumped. It has no power going to it.

I had my ECM rebuilt and socketed. Nothing else done since.

Ign to on position, CEL comes one, should go off after 5 seconds. If not its not detecting an external signal it needs or there is an internal problem in the ecu.

A friend dropped by with a OBDI snapon unit and it could not communicate with the ECM. While it was hooked up the MPI kept clicking. But I think that was the unit continually trying to connect with the ECM.

Any thoughts? It still looks like ECM to me.

What is an example of it not detecting an external signal? Today is my last day before I ship off my ECM to ECMtuning. Again, I just want to make sure I am not spending 2 weeks of waiting and $50 for nothing.
