I noticed when I leave my car on for more than about 4 mins with turbo timer running car and key out my car was overheating. I checked it out today and when i set the turbo timer for like 10 mins, took key out and watched cooling fan there was nothing. but when I let car run with the key in, the fans turned on atleast once a minute. so basically......

.... does your cooling fan turn on when the turbo timer is set and keeping your car running?

if i get alot of "yes" answers then i guess I'll have to retrace TT wiring (was in car when purchased.)

From what I have read (i purchased a wire harness with my TT) someone tapped into the wrong ACC wire. Do a search for a better answer, I read it on here. My X's car used to do the same thing but I never fixed it :)

Does your stereo stay on while your timer is counting down?

I had a Greddy Turbo Timer on Mine with the wiring harness so I didnt have to do any tapping of wires and yes the fan came on with the Key out so you probably have something tapped wrong :nono: :dsm:

yes my stereo stays on when TT is keeping car running. Does anyone know place online to get wiring schematics for HKS TT's? never got anything about it when i bought car.

TT that i have is a HKS type 0 i think. has all the extras like 0-60 1/4 mile times ect..

Thanks for helping :thumb:

I think you have the type-1. Im faily certain the type-1 had all that good stuff and the type-0 didnt. (mine is a type-1 as well). There are two accessory wires, yours is tapped into the wrong one. Switch it to the other one and your stereo will turn off when you turn the key off and your fans will continue to run.

My stereo turns off when i turn the key off, and I have the wiring harness with mine.

everything electrical will still run if the TT is correctly hooked up. I sometimes leave my TT on for 8+ minutes, during warm up(and I go back inside the house), if I need to run back into the house, stop at AM/PM. shit like that.

However mine is hooked up I never checked just did as per the FAQ my fans did not turn when it was in TT mode key out. So I just hard wired the fan to always be on when the ignition has power I run it from the BCS circuit.

On my car I purchased a harness so I never had any issues, but when I take the key out, fans run but the stereo and interior stuff all turn off. On my X's car, which was hard wired without a harness, her stereo and stuff stayed on but her fans did not run. A search brought me to the answer that on her car the ACC wire was hooked up to the wrong one. It was a long time ago that I read this and I never got around to fixing it on her car, but if your fans arent coming on and the stereo runs in TT mode, you have tapped the wrong ACC wire, since their are two switch it to the other one.

My cooling fans stay on, my stereo does not. I have the Apex`i TT with the GReddy 'Trust' harness. (Unfortunately, not the harness designed to allow the factory alarm to continue working while it's being timed down)

And Defiant, I've watched my turbo and set the timer to idle it long enough so it stops glowing red after a hard run. Five minutes tends to be the magic number.
Now if our water-cooled spools actually kept circulating water through them when the car was turned off, until it cooled down... maybe we could just switch off.

Otherwise, I'm keeping my TT. Cheaper than buying a new turbo, when the current one cokes the spool due to negligence.
