Ok, I'll try to make this as short as possible, as it has been a long, unhappy issue. Recently, While I was cleaning my valve cover while the car was running, my intake cam gear ate the rag... It looked as though the cams MAY have skipped a tooth or so, and the Cam Position Sensor and sensor wheel got screwed up. I changed the timing belt and the Cam Position Sensor parts, tried to start it up, and after a little rough idling and odd sounds that are inevitable when you dont run the car for a couple weeks, I realized that the clutch pedal was almost on the floor. Could it be that just because the car has been sitting for so long, it needs to run for a little longer or something to get back to normal??? Or could I have hurt something when I was supporting the engine with a hydraulic jack (with a piece of wood on it) under the oil pan??? What could it be??? The clutch was about 3/4 of the way down, then I manually lifted it, pumped it and it got a LITTLE TINY bit more pressure, and it stayed that way. When I push it, by the way, it makes a clicking noise almost like its catching on something... Help???

Try bleeding the clutch. I just did some clutch work recently, and afterward, the pedal was sticking on the floor, and making a loud click when lifting back up. After bleeding it for about 10 minutes and adjusting the master cylinder push rod, everything is all better. :thumb:

But as far as what I had done, do you think it would do that because of simple sitting for a couple weeks without any attention???

A clutch system shouldn't do that after just sitting for a week or so. Does it stick every time you press the clutch, or just when you lightly touch it?

Check the reservoir to see if there is any fluid, then check the master and the slave cylinders for leakage.

If you need a new slave, they are like $20-30 and here are the directions

http://www.plymouthlaser.com/slave2.htm

Master cylinder is a bit more expensive, but should be done at the same time as the slave.

If there isn't any leaks and you bled the system, read this link...scroll down to Clutch Adjustment

What the hell are you cleaning the valve cover with the engine running for!! Good way to lose a finger...sorry it's the parent in me.

I don't understand what noises it makes after sitting a while.

see if u have fluid if not add some and just pump the crap out of the clutch till it stiffens back up.

What exactly is that supposed to fix?

Do what other have stated. Check the level of fluid and then check for leaks. Once that is done get a buddy to help and blead the system. Once you get some dcent pressure then fLOLlow the link above and adjust the clutch.

Ok, so when I woke up and started the car, the clutch felt the same, of course... But when I tried to put it in gear and move it a little, it stiffened back up. I drove it for awhile and it still feels good. I'm planning on bleeding the system, but any ideas what it could be now?
