I upgraded my my stock turbo to a 20g with an external waste-gate and installed a tubular exhaust manifold. I also installed a fmic from an evo and a manual boost controller.

I run a greddy bov, dsmlink 2.5, autometter gauges.
I know I need bigger injector, fuel pump, afpr, wide band and probably a fuel rail for proper tunning.

The problem is I get no boost until 3rd gear, when I hit first I stay in vacuum and in second I get 0 boost then in third it spools up and get boost.

I installed the boost controller according to a diagram I found here. No luck, I bypass the controller and go straight to the waste gate and still the same. I have noticed that for some reason it has leaned out, but it is a narrowband.

I dont know what to do, any help please.

Can the turbo be to big for my set up?
I have checked and no boost leak.

Slow spool do a boost leak test again, turbo is it in good shape, keep doing blt. 20g slower spool, than your evo.

hmmmmm. 20G's will spool slower till you get em going but not to the point where you don't get any boost like your explaining. If after boost leak test the problem still persists maybe your wastegate possibly sticking open? don't know if your 20g set-up was new or used. if used, this could be the problem

If you are sure there are no boost leaks, then sounds like the wastegate is stuck open, or that you have a pre-turbine exhaust leak. You can hook a pressure source right up to the nipple on the wastegate to see what pressure it opens at.

Thats where Id start. Lose the MBC and just go straight from the pressure source to the wastegate. which port on the wastegate are you running your boost source to? Should be the side port, leave the top port open. I ran a 10lb spring on my ext wg with my 20 on stock injectors and saw 14 lbs of boost by roughly 3500 rpm..
