Ok guys, I replaced my ac compressor a few weeks ago, installed new belt and vacuumed and charged the system. AC worked great for a few hours. Only thing kind of weird was the compressor kicked on and off quite too often. When it stopped working, i recovered the system, vacuumed it again for 45 min. and recharged it with 1.64lbs of r134a (about .2 lbs more than last time) and still nothing, ac compressor won't come on. So I jumped the low pressure sensor connector and nothing. Only time the compressor comes on and ac works is when I jump it at the relay. what else can I check?

Thanks, Abe

Some parts stores call it freon pressure switch. Also check your ac switch. Does the button turn green when you press it?

Switch on the dash - push it in to engage AC? Fan switch has to be on first click.

Put the air controls to full cold and air recirc, not fresh.

Fresh pulls in outside air and defeats the AC, where RECIRC recycles the air to make it cooler.

It's during the winter you want the Fresh on to pull in fresh air to heat the air up quicker...and you won't have foggy windows.

Can you hear the compressor pulley engage..with the "clunk" when you turn on the AC?

If it's the sensor by the left headlight I jumped the connector and still nothing. And the light does come on, the problem is the compressor doesn't engage, only when I jump it at the relay. Also at the compressor relay, i can jump the top hole to the bottom right and both the radiator and condensor fan come on. I got my condensor fan off a NT 2g, and i had to take off the heat shield it had to fit, since my i/c piping was on the way. Could low oil in the system stop the compressor from coming on?

What oil did you put in the compressor? Was it mineral based or was it a polyester based? R134a will ruin mineral based oil used with the older R12.

Does your on/off switch flash or blink? Also if it's short cycling you may have over charged the system.

Do you have a gauge manifold to hook up and test the high and low side numbers? If so what are they? If you have an obstruction it could cause excessive pressure to build up and kick it off on a high pressure limit. When you reclaimed you refrigerant was it less then you put in?

My car came stock with r134a, so I didn't use mineral oil. When I push the ac button the green light stays on, no blinking. I'm thinking I found the problem, may be my ACCU, I put one off a 2g NT and the compressor kicks on and cold air starts to come out. The ACCU off the NT is different so I'm going to see if I can find one off a turbo model I can buy. Is there any way of testing my ACCU?

I'm assuming you have downloaded the manual already. If not the link is provided. I found the troubleshooting diagram and took a snap shot from my phone to show you what I'm talking about. I recommend using the troubleshooting guide. Then reporting back with the results.

If anything at all is compromised then it will kick out the magnetic clutch and lock out the compressor from operation. All conditions must be satisfied for it to run. So you'll need to keep checking sensors and keep track of your results to get an idea of what's wrong. It most likely will be tedious but you'll get there.

I found a link as well that could be helpful. It has to do with the ACCU.

Ok guys, I posted this thread a while back now and want to post back for people that may need to know what I did later. Like mentioned earlier I suspected it would be the ACCU so went ahead and bought one off a fellow dsm'er. Installed it an now my ac has been working great for about a month now. :hellyeah:
