I have researched both topics for a little bit and I have found one very important question that goes unanswered.
That is what transmission people are using with what sized nitrous shot + turbo.

I have a direct port kit, that I am selling because I am too scared to use it on any transmission. Shep 4/TRE/Jacks/Whatever.

I have an E316G and I broke a center diff., but that was launching the crap out of it on a reg. basis, needless to say I don't do that anymore.
I also sheared 3rd gear, but the synchro was bad, so I am sure that didn't help.
Car made 410hp 458tq on a dynojet. (don't get into numbers I don't care)
11.7@120

Basically I want to run 100shot for power and cooling. New turbo next year should be HX35 mitsu housing, 272 sized cams.
Car is full weight. AC/PS/Stereo, etc.

If i used the nitrous, I would use it 2nd gear up. This also leads to the question, can I spray in 5th? Anywho I am thinking use my dsmlink to control it, start in 2nd gear end in 4th unless I can spray in 5th, but I probably won't do that.

Thanks for the help

Aaron

My car has made over 500hp on my jack tranny. When using 100shot of nitrous the last thing you need to worry about is if your tranny can take it.

I am confused, are you trying to say that because I use nitrous all that shit will happen?

What if the bottom end was fully built?

can you be a little bit helpful here? Have you used nitrous? what shot?

I think you will have to spray 3rd gear up if you dont have slicks/drag radials.
You will likely spin spraying in 1st or 2nd at your power level.
Nitrous makes the motor produce wicket torque, and you already have that...

As far as tranny, you could ask Dsm wiseman Twick69 to take a look at this thread, he has been thru numerous trannies and has lots of experience on when they start to break and why.

Im sure you will have to worry about sheering that 3rd gear again and/or 4th unless the tranny is a premium build. Slower more focased shifting could help a lot as well.

Also when I told him of my goals, he highly recommended me to run Redline Lightweight shockproof blue in the tranny. I had been running straight syncromesh before that which is a BIG NO NO despite me doing tranny flushes every 5k since I knew it broke down fast. Way too thin, cant protect your gears properly on a high powered application. High powered meaning 300hp +.
Even the famed Redline MT90 was said to be too thin. So now I am only going to run thicker fluids.

Did you upgrade your center diff to 4 spyder gears or have it welded?
That will prevent you from messing up the center diff again.
How hard/often were you launching the car?

Id also like to know for my own purposes as I plan to make over 400awhp on my e316g setup as well and Iam going to spray a 50shot as you've read from my nitrous thread, and I need to see what I am going to have to worry about as well.

As far as the motor, with your power level and 100shot, honestly if its a old tired stock block you might want to build it with at least ARP everything, rods and pistons, or its just as vulnerable as your transmission.

Unfortunantly I think nitrous is best on a Auto car LOL

I'm saying exactly what i typed, on a 100shot your least concern should be your tranny. Your motor handle it is what i would worry about. a 100shot jet on a turbo motor will yield over 100hp extra due to the boost spike and the supercooling of the nitrous. Is the motor fully built? If so, then it should take a 100shot easily. A Jack tranny will also take it with ease. People are making over 700hp on jack trannys. I also find it hard to believe you made that much HP on a 16g alone, but that's for another thread.
I have extensive use with nitrous. I've sprayed as much as a 75 shot which yielded about 85extra HP. Nitrous is fun/safe way to add HP if done correctly.

I had the center diff welded, I stop launching the car hard instead I use more clutch slip than I once did.
I already have ARP head studs in.

A 100shot will probably be ok on the bottom end assuming it's tuned well.

Ryan is that your honest advice? Thank you. I try to tune the car to be as safe as possible I usually have very low timing advance if any.
Congrats on 500hp I hope to be joining you maybe next year.

LOL, the 175 shot on a stock block has been holding up very well. 4g63's loves nitrous, and idots just give it a bad name. My personal car, has a bigger total shot and two kits on it. I just need to find time to tune and race it. :thumb: I will never go turbo anything again with-out nitrous. It makes a 16g feel like a gt40, but at less then a 1/4 of the price. I'm looking for a AWD shell to throw my set-up in.

Yeah thats nuts. Plus I don't want to spend $1500+ on a tranny just to find out it won't hold 35+psi from a HX35 and a 100shot

Start with a 50 shot jet and get it tuned, then if you feel you need anything more from there step up slowly. I LOVE N2o on turbo cars... I even ran it on my mustang and took the stock block to 155k miles while spraying 125 shot all the time. Accidentally going lean on nitrous is where all the horror stories come from ( that and not reading about the guidelines of when to use it) or having a solenoid come on or stick at the wrong time. I've run dual nitrous solenoids (in line) ever since the time my mustang's nitrous solenoid stuck and emptied my entire 10lb bottle in about 30 seconds.

Well not sure how crazy I am going to get with the nitrous or even the car. I think that I might make it a big more comfy hit 500hp boost only at least the dynojet and call it a day. Then maybe build something else.

In case you didnt already realize, a 100hp shot is going to give you an extra ~130whp and the torque is going to exceed the 600 mark.. Nitrous on a turbo car is fun.. :)

Also, just as a safe precaution, its not wise to spray below 3000rpm's.. Nitrous can puddle in the intake manifold and you'll then experience a nitrous backfire.. I'm sure you already know this as I'm sure you've done your research on it..

^Yes I have. But thanks for the helpful advice.

I got a new project car this weekend, So I will be for sure selling this kit unless I can use it on the new car, but I don't plan on it.
