Hey i search a little on this but still confuse, but can I use any of the spektrum transmitters with the right reciecer. Everyone is talking about flying heli's and planes with like the DX7 and DX6i. I'd rather have a remote with the thumb controls instead of the knob I would have to turn.

Thanks

You need to have the same amount of hertz in the crystals in the transmitter and reciever. The thumb stick controllers just have more channels which is suitable for planes and helis.

Correct, as long as it has enough channels for your. I only use two on my truck steering and gas/brake.

What do you guys got?

I had a T-Maxx 2.5 but I got tired of flipping it all the time. Way to damn fast for it's own good. Lots of fun though. I sold it and lost my ass in the deal. I just couldn't see it sitting around anymore.

Here's a few I used to have.

edit: never mind my photobucket is being stupid for some reason

I use Spektrums for my truck and my heli.

If you want to use an "aircraft" version in your car, you can.

Just get a park flier system.

Very small, limited range... but it would work very well in a car.

Yes you can use any SPEKTRUM compatible transmitter with any SPEKTRUM receiver. The only problem you'll run into will be how many channels the receiver has compared to your transmitter, you'll want these to match. For instance, if you have a 7 channel transmitter and a 2 channel receiver then some of your buttons on the transmitter won't control anything. So you'll need the 7channel receiver to match the transmitter.

There are modules also the plug into common high-end transmitters that output the SPEKTRUM signal. You can then find your radio and then upgrade it to use the SPEKTRUM technology.

I used to own a DX3 and loved it. Except for the fact that the SPEKTRUM handhelds are really cheap feeling, it was a great controller.

Here's my old REVO that I used to road race on asphalt. That was so much fun!! Sold it on Ebay for $880

This is with the Collari .32 that I mainly used to haul serious ass and show off with.

This is with the O.S. .18 that I used to Race. Really light and was very consistant. I won lots of races with this engine.

Then I got into carpet racing with my Losi JRX-S! This is the only picture I have of it though! :( Definitely a lot more fun than the Revo. It's really competitive, I raced in the 19t and 27t "Stock" Rubber tire classes. It's really fun tweaking on the car and the motor to put out the maximum it can, i.e. different brushes & brush springs, spur and pinion gears charging the batteries and dishcharging them, deadshorting them, setting up the suspension, shock oils, shock pistons, spring rates, toe & camber, droop, ride height and on and on!!! Can't wait to pay off some debt and finish remodeling my house to get another one. It's expensive when you break something though.

You need to have the same amount of hertz in the crystals in the transmitter and reciever. The thumb stick controllers just have more channels which is suitable for planes and helis.

He was asking about SPEKTRUM. With SPEKTRUM you don't have to worry about the crystals being the same on the transmitter as well as the receiver. When the system boots up it scans the area for unused signals and connects to the receiver on one of those frequencies. This is awsome for when you race because you can just flip on your conroller and go to town testing and tuning without having to get one of those damn frequency tag/flags from the operators desk. Also when you sign up to race you don't have to specify a frequency that you'll be running on, just write down "DSM".

It also had a built in failsafe. This feature is great and all as for the fact that you don't have to spend money on an external failsafe. The downfall to this is that it takes a while for it to notice that you've lost signal. If you're at WOT down a straight and you lose signal (which will probably not happen unless you run the batteries dead in the controller) you'll keep going WOT till it notices that you've lost signal and then apply the brakes.

Ok so I got the radio and its not a spektrum but I cant get it to control the car any help??

What type of receiver do you have?

You have to make sure the radio and the receiver are on the same frequency. If your receiver is a spektrum unit, then you have to use a spektrum radio with it. Generally manufacturers have color coded crystals that you can plug in and out of the receiver and transmitter. Make sure they are the same.

Go to Tower Hobbies - Radio Control ( R/C or RC ) Cars, Trucks, Airplanes, Boats and Helicopters to get new crystals. This is what I would do. Look at your receiver and find out what frequency it runs on. Then search tower hobbies for a your transmitter and buy the crystal for the transmitter that matches your receiver.

You do have a battery plugged into the receiver right? It needs power in order to work. The frequencies need to match and both the Tx and Rx need to have a power source.
