Hey,

I need to know once and for all what these three nipples are for. Can someone please help me?? I only know that one is for the hose that comes from the valve cover.

Also, Does it matter which hose goes to which nipple?

Thanks a lot.

According to your picture:

Top Left= Crankcase Breather

Top Right= Charcoal Canister Vent Hose

Bottom Middle= Boost Control Solenoid (unused when you have a MBC)

exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

Top Left= Crankcase Breather - This is out of the valve cover right?
Top Right= Charcoal Canister Vent Hose - This is underneath the battery right? This is for emmisions? Can I just leave this hose disconnected?

Thank you so much.

Yes, the crankcase breather nipple is on the passenger side of the valve cover.

The charcoal canister (located underneath the battery) stores gasoline vapors from the gas tank until the motor is running at which time the vapors are sucked into the intake to be burned during normal combustion. This is to prevent excessive pressure buildup in the gas tank. Some guys will block off the vent hose from the gas tank but I personally don't recommend it as the gas tank needs a way to vent.

BTW, why is the MAS connected upside down to the intake pipe?

Good catch, romeen.

How does the plug reach to connect to the MAS with it attached like that?

ha yeah good catch is right. I dont' know how that happened. I think the mas cord is long enough because this is all for my 1g and I had to hardwire the 2g plug. I guess I must have left enough wire to reach it.

I'll flip it arround. You guys definetally cleared up my question, thanks.

I'm just having a hell of a time figuring out where this loose hose is suppose to go. It is coming form between the intake manifold and the engine (I can't see where exactly) and it is just chilling right near the intake pipe nipples are. When the car is on, it sucks air in. I guess it must just be an emissions hose?

There are only 3 possibilities that I can think of as far as what lines from the IM might reach that far:

1) Valve cover breather (ok it's not the IM directly but still check it)

2) Make sure the vacuum line to your BOV is hooked up.

3) Make sure the line to the PCV is hooked up. Normally this is very short but some guys rig up catch cans or otherwise alter the crankcase ventilation system. The PCV hose should connect to the passenger side of the IM to a nipple that points straight up.

Either way it is clearly a vacuum leak (and a boost leak when you are boosting) so it needs to be fixed.

cool, I know the valve cover breather is connected. I'll check the other two options later today....thanks.
