NHRA rules about rear mounted battery

Does anyone know (please don't guess) the requirements for a rear mounted, DRY CELL (like the Optima) battery? Does a dry cell still have to be in a sealed box?

Where can I find NHRA rules? I looked online and at their website but couldn't find any rules at all.

I have the NHRA rulebook for 2006 and it really doesn't say anything about dry cell batteries. This leads me to believe any rear mounted battery must be mounted in a sealed battery box and have a cutoff switch.

Yea, I knew it needed a cutoff switch. I guess I'll have to treat it as a regular battery. You'd think it could be mounted open because there's nothing to spill. Do dry cells vent gases like wet cells?

Yes, they do still emit gasses. Box it

I personally have never had any problems passing tech with my rear mounted Optima battery in an unsealed box.
