Saskatoon,
Im just wondering which way i should go right now for my next mod. Right now i have a 1991 tsi awd stock except dejon tool intake. I'm deciding between the translab shift kit or a boost and a/f guage's and pod. Just wondering which i should do first. Also how much of a difference does the shift kit make?

I'd go with the shift kit and new cams, since the auto cams arent very hot performance wise.

When you did your intake, you should've done a boost gauge. A boost gauge should be the first thing you almost always do.

I'd recommend going with the boost gauge & controller next. You don't want to jump into the shift kit until you have decided how my hp you are looking at getting (or so I have been told). I would do the basic supporting mods and then build up from there.

You don't need a shift kit when you're running stock. Get a boost gauge first so you know what your real boost numbers are. Then I'd say you should do your exhaust from downpipe to test-pipe to tip...then finish the intake. Then get a manual boost controller, upgrade your fuel pump to a walbro 255, and lastly get a SAFC and get the car tuned. Now you should be able to realize about 200 to 215 whp at 15 psi and then think about building your tranny.
