Hey all!

I have a 98 Spyder converted to AWD auto that is my wife's favorite car. Every car I own, except the Eclipse is manual. I just like the control it gives and the power that manuals can handle (especially my Nissans) without supporting mods. I have pulled out 3 autos in my Nissans to put in manuals. I'm obsessive that way.

Well, I am keeping the Eclipse automagic becasue she wants it that way, and I like not having to shift... sometimes. So I am going to put some ca$h into building up the transmission by getting an IPT VB with a Translab shift kit. I only put down about 375HP to the wheels and don't powerlaunch... much.

So, the question.... I have seen a couple posts about the RMT manu-matic mod. I have seen a review on a FleaBay built kit using that mod. Well, I don't buy "kits" from FleaBay ever and want to put this together myself after I get the VB/Shift Kit in. I can't find a writeup or how-to on the boards. I obviously searched and even did a Google search, but I can't find info. I guess it woulf help if I knew what the acronym RMT stood for...

It would be very nice to have such control over the normally sluggish TCM shift points whenever need be. Does anyone have any information on this mod?

Well, keep in mind.. the "fleabay" kit was the RMT mod pre built. Also, I might have the schematics on how to build it saved on my other computer. I will check back if I find it.

If I can't, then you might be out luck, since you don't want the eBay one.

The other solution could be the IPT electro-matic manual controller. You get a box with push buttons for gears, and shift it like a manual. Everyone I know with it is extremely happy.

Thanks!

Yes, I priced that out at IPT when I got the VB/SK. I don't want the eBay kit because I am more than capable of doing it myself and saving the $. Same reason I don't by any other "kit" on eBay. I just need the info.

i have done this mod, i am pretty good with wires, etc. however, i have not installed it yet into my car because i want to first have someone check over the cables and secondly, i need to know exactly which wires to tap into. i have the 1g scematics, but my car is a 2g.

if all goes well, i plan to make a few of these for other fellow dsm owners. i wont be looking to make a huge profit, i just want to give back to the community. hth.

Honestly, the ebay kit was a very well built component, so don't know without knowing.

And really though, it's easy to put together. I'm going to eventually here as well. Probably in it's own pretty box too.

that guy on ebay is no longer selling them. i need to see what he was making, so then i can remake it. im sure it was well built. does anyone have the 2g install instructions?
