Ok here goes. I have a 94 talon tsi auto. I know it comes with the smaller turbo (13b) I believe. I am going to upgrade to a 14b. My question is this. Will the turbos simply swap out? If so how long should it take me? Should I notice a performance increase? Should i upgrade to a dif boost gauge? If anyone has done this before (which I know a few have) Please let me know what kind of project I am getting myself into! :talon:

You will get bored of a 14b quick, just go with a 16g. A boost gauge should be your first mod. Both 14b and 16g should give you noticible gains but be sure to do keep the boost down untill you get fuel mods done, those 390cc injectors are :thumbdown Oh and yes 14b, 16g, 18g...... will all bolt on. While your in there go with a 2G exhuast manifold if your budget alows it :p

Not tryin to highjack the thread or anything but i have juat a quick ? that pertains to the 1g and 2g manifolds. Anyways, are the bolt patterns on the turbo side (where the turbo bolts up) on both manifolds the same? Thanks. :thumb: :laser:

the first time i did a turbo swap it took me 2 nights, about 12 hours total. thats with no help other than a chiltons book. the last time i did one i did 2 cars at once, swapped the entire manifold/turbo/o2 housing assemblys.. took about 4 hours.

just take your time and make sure you do it all right and its really not very hard to do

heatshields
coolant lines
oil lines
o2 housing bolts
manifold bolts

thats about it really. if you are planning ahead get another manifold bolt to replace the stud and nut that is in there now. that thing is a pain in the ass

turbo changes on dsm's are easy as hell.. everything is right in the front and easy to get to. the head has to come off of my new car to even get at the turbo.. look at it back there
