Alright since I am a newbie to dsm's and i couldn't find my answer using the search button i figured i'd make a thread. I have a bastard 20g turbo, and 750cc, injectors, dsm link v3. I was wondering what the highest i should turn up my boost with this turbo on a stock smic for a 1g 92 tsi awd. Does anyone have a decent fmic they want to sell me, i want a street kit not a race kit. Or is there a kit i can get new that is direct bolt on. thanks.

Punishmnet Racing's FMIC kit. :thumb: $399 shipped with everything you need and its a street core. It's a 26"x8"x3.5" Bar and Plate core.

As far as how high to turn up the boost, that is what dsmlink is for. Tune it until your IDC's start getting too high. With a 20g and 750's you should be able to get around 25 psi safely, but use dsmlink, like I said, that's what its for.

Hope this helps!

Did you get your stuff from Brad in Indy? (he recently sold his 20G and 750's If so, you should have got the FMIC I just bought off him as it is exactly what you need (same dimensions as 9!'clipseDOHC mentions.).

He ran 24lbs without issue with that setup (discounting the wheel spin)

you have to see if ## running stock pistons as well...im not sure bout the 1g but the 7 bolt on the 2g's stock pistons can only take 15 16 lbs of boost safely

Stock 2g pistons can only handle 15-16psi? Why is that?

I didnt think I'd be the only one to call you on this one, as someone else said; you need to do some reading.

Probably the guy LOL.

Man I was running e85 on those injectors, but I had raised the base fuel pressure and had a fuel pump that could keep up. Those injectors, e85 and a regular walbro 255 on stock fuel pressure is good for 20psi no problem since you don't have cams or a fmic yet.

What are you talking about? Many people have run double that boost on stock 7 bolts without any problems. It is all in the tune. If you tune it safe with plenty of fuel and it's not knocking then it will last (at least for a while). I am not saying that I recommend running 30 psi on a stock bottom end but it has and can be done.

You have a lot of reading and learning to do before you spout wrong info out... There is a reason people put 2g OEM pistons on 1g big rods, the comp is higher it gives you a nice bump there and they are very strong pistons.:thumb:

Yea I actually did buy the stuff from him. I tried to buy the fmic but he said a guy already was buying it and didn't want to sell out from under him. You want to sell me the fmic? LOL i got cash can come this week.

As far as mods go, i bought my car completely stock except for turbo back 3" exhaust, boost gauge, and a narrowband afr, i am buying a walbro 255 this week so i think i should have a big enough fuel pump to turn boost up. I heard that i can run 25-29lbs of boost with arp headstuds a bigger fuel pump. Im tryin to build my car for low 12's so i hope i can get there. The only things i have left to buy is a wideband afr, fmic, and arp headstuds. If anyone has these and wants to get rid of them let me know

Oh i also plan on gettin a cometic headgasket. Im going to have someone install my headstuds and head gasket tho, ### i have no confidence when it comes to opening up the motor.

Just to let you know that if you are going to get a MLS headgasket you should have both the block and head decks resurfaced in order to get a proper seal. Just a heads up.

Hope this helps!

Pretty sure its gonna require pulling the motor. The head is easy since it will be out already.

The cost depends on the machine shop but I would say a couple hundred and yes you have to pull the motor.

There are numerous thread about this that you can check out but here is a good one: Cometic head gasket no decking Opinions.

I would recommend using a new OEM Mitsubishi composite head gasket with APR head studs.

Hope this helps!

running stock sidemount i wouldnt reccomend running anything more than 20Psi at max i assume that your are still running stck intercooler hoses

i never said it couldnt be done...all i said was safely without any problems and without a tune ofcource...but if you wanted to keep it at the boost pressure of like 25 psi...i would recommend changing them

ionno man i read of alot of ppl blowing there pistons because they dont know how to do the job right...thas all im saying...with the correct tune and everything working perfectly then yes

I actually do have hard piping on my stock side mount. so everyone agrees no more than 20lbs on my stock intercooler, and i wont be able to run e85 until next spring ### im moving to Camby and there is e85 stations there. So for now im on pump gas.
