I got a fully stock 95 Talon FWD TSI. I planned on buying some guages first but I got the full 3guage pod a-pillar but now i just need to know which guages to get. There is the obvious boost guage which i have. But what else would be the most useful for the other 2 open spots. I have heard that an air/fuel guage is useless. I have also been told that an EGT guage is very important. Please explain to me what 2 guages I should buy and what those 2 guages do. Thanks for the help guys.

1. Boost Gauge- to read boost accurately
2. EGT Gauge- to read gas temperature, you don't want your engine getting too hot.
3. Elect. Oil Pressure Gauge- to read oil pressure for you engine. Don't want your oil pressure to low or it will destroy everything you work for. :thumb:

When you swap out that t-25 with a better turbocharger is a great time to install the egt.

Yea my car is an automatic. It sucks but oh well. So what exactly does the EGT Guage do and why do u need it so bad?

Also a guy around the area i know has an apexi downpipe for sale. It has never been installed on any car and its full stainless steel. It starts off as 2.5" and thn the flex pipe and then 3" the rest of the downpipe. Its never been used, do u think thats a good one to get?

Here you go
A leaner mixture will give you more power by making more heat. Too much heat, and things start to melt. You need to find out what's going on inside the motor before it's too late. Your car will never feel so fast as when the pistons are just beginning to melt. Most people who install an EGT are amazed at how close to the edge they are running. This is a must if you are going to experiment. We install the temperature probe in the exhaust manifold to get the most accurate reading. We prefer to mount the probe in the runner for cylinder number one since it seems to run the hottest.

Exhaust gas Temperature, or pyrometer,

it shows the temp of the exhaust gas leaving the engine. Shows you a pretty good idea of the internal condition, if a lean condition is there,....

you dont need an EGt til you start considerably raising boost pressure, dabbling with fuel correction, and things of that nature.

you really dont need it on a monstly stock dsm, id personally save that install til you pull that turbo, so when you drill the holes the shavings can just hit the dirt and not hit the turbine.

Well that explains a lot thanks guys. Yea when i get the 16g or T28 turbo i will have to get that EGT guage. But i mean on my stock TSI. Do you think it would hurt the engine to riase 2-3 psi?
