newbie 98 rs needing a new engine

Okay so I bought my 98 RS 130,000 mile car for $3500(still owe 1200)about 2 oe 3 months ago. Now my engine has a nasty case of rod knock and is undrivable. My mother said she would help me buy a rebuilt engine. So my question to you all is this; where can I find a decent 4g63 engine? I know I will hear "get the 420a and turbo it" but that’s not an option for me. I have very little money right now. Also is it hard swapping them? I wouldn't think so maybe a new computer or something? Please help me out.

Also I bought it from a private party so I can't really take it back, I bought it as is.

Its not impossible, but it also is incredibly difficult, and costly (upwards of 4 grand).

Turbo'ing a 420a is considerably cheaper, although, you may just want to rebuild the 420a and get a working car

hey man forget about the 4g63t swap. its almost impossible. I dont know of one successful case yet. I know a guy that said he had the car running but then he trashed the project because too many things started going wrong. its a really hard swap, so i wouldnt really think about that. Why not just get the howell automotive rebuild kit...

you can get some forged high compression pistons and forged rods and other little stuff for 1100. then get someone to install it for 900.....then u can go ahead and buy a used head for like 150 or maybe u can still us ur head. This would be ur best option in my opinion
