Newb OBDII question

I just picked up a logger, and it has the OBDII program on it. Now when it comes time to smog, will this help out my OBDII troubles? Instead of having to go to the dealership and have them run/force my ecu to do the self diagnostics tests? If you live in Cali, you know what i am talking about.

I know what you're talking about, as I go through all that crap myself. If it is just a logger, I doubt you will be able to do anything other than record parameters.

I have to take my car to the dealer to get it smogged, gotta love this crap.

I'd like to know this as well. I know you can erase CEL light codes with the logger, but I don't know if it would help or not when it comes time for the OBDII diagnostics test. I'm very due for an inspection, mines been dead for 2 months now, and here where I live they just started the OBDII testing, and if within a years time if you haven't had your car inspected they will mail you a very nice $250 dollar fine, ain't that lovely.

i would imagin in you live in a state that requires some sort of cert.. ya still need to go.
loggers can clear codes and run some sensor tests.

I get it smogged at the dealership, being that they are the only ones willing to perform the reset. It has to be smogged RIGHT after the reset, if you turn the car off you are screwed and have to start over.

Yeah, i had them reset it when i had to go to the state ref. State ref didnt like that one bit, but I set him straight when i told him to call the ####in dealership so they could explain to him why my car couldnt be turned off. I guess if i have to get it smogged it is going to be through satan and not no little whole in the wall down the street.

The only thing they made me change out on the car to pass smog was the BOV. I had to slap the 2G POS back on. I wanted to cry.

It doesn't, but since it's "adjustable", it's technically illegal.
