new turbo

Hey everyone,

i have a 94' talon tsi and just put in a dejon intake and 3" inch turbo back with a punishment racing o2 housing. i'm now thinking of getting a b16g turbo but im worried about lag and actually affecting my performance. ill also be getting a racing header. Anyones help would be great!

If you are worried about lag get a small 16g. Also a 2g or evo3 manifold would be great options for a manifold upgrade. But you need to consider that if you upgrade your turbo you will need fuel/ tuning upgrades as well.

pm sent, I used to run a 16g and loved it. Paired with a evo 3 manifold or a ported 2g manifold it would be a great upgrade for you

im not overly worried about lag, i just dont want to have to wait when i want to go for a pull. and what sort of upgrades for tuning and fuel?

My small 16g hits 20psi by about 3300rpm in 3rd gear. I wouldn't call that a significant increase in lag, especially with how much harder it pulls compared to the 14b. With every variant of the 16g, you can run stock boost on the stock fuel system. This is also a good read if you interested in power vs spool on the 16g.

And I would also suggest you skip the tubular manifold and just get a 2g manifold (less prone to cracking) and port it out a bit. They are good for over 500hp and won't increase engine bay temps like a tubular manifold.
