I finally reached the 500 mile mark on my new/rebuild engine and clutch. I hooked up the ol' pocketlogger and went to have some fun. I left the settings the same as they were before I pulled the motor. First run, I notice my timing is EXCELLENT! I was getting about 19-20 degrees advance by 7k RPM. Before the engine rebuild at the same boost level (18psi), I would be happy to get 16 degrees by 7K RPM in 3rd. So I proceeded to lean it out a few percent from -16 to -19 across the board. Still, the timing was excellent! The car definately feels awesome! But I am a little concerned about the "good" timing. I know that sounds funny to be concerned about good timing :) . But would a fresh motor be that much less prone to knock? I am doubting my knock sensor at this point. I hope I didn't screw it up reinstalling it or something. My mods are listed in the profile and the only new things besides a fresh stock rebuild are the SS valves, flywheel, and BM insert. Oh yeah, I also used the MLS headgasket which may have lowered my compression a bit. But then i would think that my decked block and head would bring it right back up. I guess I'm just wondering if I should proceed to tuning it or is something not quite right. I mean I'm at -19 across the board at 18-19psi on 91 California piss gas with no knock

I'm only on RC 550s as well. Also, my o2 voltage was around .98v.

With 650's and 20psi on pump gas i'm at -34% on the high's

sounds about right. im running 22 psi on a 50 trim with 93 octane and 650's and a base fp of 43 psi. my highs are at -30 to -32. i also get .98 o2 voltages with 20 deg timing advance by redline, 21-22 by 7300 rpm. :dsm:
