What's up everyone? My name is Mike, and i'm from FL. New here and to dsm's. Kinda clueless as to what I should do with my project. I bought a really clean 1gb shell a few months ago and have been slowly stripping/painting the interior. Also picked up some mint evo8 recaro's for $400. I have a donor motor from a friend but not sure what to do as for a rebuild and turbo setup, as well as a transmission to hold power. I'm coming from the honda game and I heard these cars are a completely different story. I'd like to have the car going by the end of april. Here's some pics. Let me know what ya think! Any and all input is welcome and appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction everyone! I really appreciate it. As much as I want to dump every dime I make into this car, i'm moving to orlando to go to uti in july. I kinda need money for school so the build is most likely going to be postponed =[ and possibly for sale. The honda bug is still biting and I have much more knowledge of them. Also, as much as I don't want to give up so easily after all i've done, I think I can more efficiently build a honda LOL. Any input? Thanks guys..

-Mike

Ouch Mike, speaking from experience the Honda bug has nothing on the DSM. As far as money goes if you modify your build plan, there are alot of builds on this site that make 400hp with under 4k total.
Take for example going with a 14b, or Evo316G on E85, or any TD05 turned up, or Holset builds,... The list goes on and on for making a lot of power for cheap. You need the V2, or V3 light and ECU thats going to be 300-400, you have the pump, a FPR is around 100, injectors all day in the classifieds for 175+, a turbo 200-400 (20g for 425), and a couple other things and you are in the money.
Point being is that you don't need to dump every penny, the first thing is to get it running so you can drive it. I think that you asked could you have it ready by April, and yes you could easily if your not shooting for 400hp+. If you can be satisfied with a solid 250-300 for now then its very realistic and for a lot cheaper.

Being comfortable with Honda shouldn't discourage you from DSM, it should reinforce it because our cars have so much more potential. Do some searching on this site for "budget builds" "14b drag discussion" "Junkyard builds" and you will see that Honda's can't hold a candle. Yes your right you might be more efficient at throwing a honda together, but putting a 1g together isn't going to be as bad as you think. Re-phrase your questions into what do I need to do to this shell to get it running, then start looking into how do I get it to run circle around the honda's.

:hellyeah::thumb: I dont think it could have been said any better than that! Give it some deep thought. You seem to have what most dsmers would probably kill for. Your shell looks very clean! I would restore it with love and care and good build path and i promise you, you wont be disappointed! :dsm:

Thanks for all the positive reinforcement guys! I think i'm going to save up and keep it. Build it right the first time so i'll enjoy it for a long time. I'll upload a few more pics later or tomorrow too. My donor motor and the finished interior minus seats. Stripped all the sound deadening and gave it a fresh coat of white. Need to figure out a way to get these evo seats bolted up and then the interior is complete! Thanks again everyone!

Here's the donor motor guys! Pic was at night, and taken with my phone, so it's not the greatest LOL. But it supposedly has manley H beams and wiseco pistons. Only time will tell. Can't wait to crack it open!

Both the donor car and my shell will possibly be for sale... Money is really getting tight. This sucks
