Looking at a 91 AWD (sight unseen many miles away) but it smokes on decelleration, says it's the turbo bearing which I assume gets fed/lubed/cooled from an oil supply line. The reason for the smoking sounds feasible (if the rings and/or guides arent the reason, how likely @ 101K miles) and even if it needs a new turbo good excuse for an upgrade :D

I wonder if there's any members near the NY/PA border that can look at it for me?

Might have found a 93 AWD 5 speed :D

No details until it's in my hands, don't want to jinx it. :)

Where at? I live near the NY/PA border (about 10 minutes) in the Elmira/Binghamton area.

And yes, there is a line going from the left-side (when looking straight at the engine) of the head to the turbocharger and it goes to the top, then there's an oil return line going to the oil pan. Be warned that the oil line going to the turbo is a pain if you do not make sure you're threading that bolt in correctly each time. I stripped my threads because I wasn't careful enough, and had to install a helicoil because of it.

That damned thing strips so easy it's not even funny. I think the head was made out of butter and not aluminum on that side. The DSM vendors should start selling helicoil kits specifically for this fitting.

Speaking of which, if you could PM me with where you got your HC kit, I'd appreciate it. :D

If you can let me know where in Johnson City it is, I might be able to take a look at it (it's only half an hour away.)

Oh and psychlow, I'm not sure where my dad bought the helicoil at (probably NAPA), but I can give you the information on it. It's a Perma-Coil 3221-M10F M10 x 1.25 metric. They give you practically everything to do it except the drill bit, which is a 13/32 size. Also note that it's really hard to do with the engine in, unless you want to take off the thermostat housing. My dad had to treat the trap wrench like a normal wrench and only use one of the handles, which made it hard to get it in nice and straight in the beginning.

Aik,

Not sure it looks like about 1 1/2 hrs due north of Allentown.

I found a nice local "Virgin" 93 AWD Eclipse with 99K, needs a clutch desperately. It's white with Black leather and it's a solid 7 out of 10 overall. Does $2550 sound like a good price?

I figure if that's the original clutch the car wasn't dogged too hard.

I haven't seen ANY AWD 5 speeds going for less than about $2800 in Charlotte, and certainly not in this kind of shape. I went about 60 miles out of town for this one. Lots of them around here with 125k-140K + miles going for $3000-3500. That's higher than many other parts of the country I'm sure but if that's what I paid I know in this area I could get at least that much or more for it. They're too hard to locate in this good of shape around here.

BTW, the people who have it said they just put trans lube in it right before it started slipping, I wonder if they could have seeped some lube between the Bell housing and Clutch, if that's the case a bit of CRC Brake cleaner would get rid of most of the oil, Is there a clutch inspection cover on these things? They said it just started slipping. The rest of the car is great, the tailpipe burns a nice tan/grey color. I'd rather pay more for a Virgin AWD than a little more for one that who knows who 'tuned' it  I think i'll limp it home and put it on my lift to see before I drop the cash on the clutch.

Since I need a Clutch, what do you recommend for just a touch over stock? ACT 2100, Exedy Stage 1? I can get the Exedy local for a pretty good price. I don't think I'll need anything stiffer or a lightweight flywheel, not for now anyway. I've already got a "spare" 6 bolt and 36K mile AWD tranny that I plan to build to the hilt and swap in later. I just want to enjoy driving it for a little while. The other motor is came with a reprogrammed ECU and a re-worked turbo, allegedly good for ~22psi.

Hey guys and girls, I'm a newbie too. I'm also in the market for a 92-94 eclipse/talon AWD. I haven't been able to find a deal as good as the one you've found, Streetwise. Where are you finding all these cars for sale? I'm looking to build a 12 second budget car. I've been welding for about a year now, and would like to try to fabricate most of the parts myself i/c piping, 02 sensor housing, downpipe, ect. I have also built several cars; a 81 280zx-t, 87 conquest, 87 supra turbo, and a 95 240sx. This seems to be a friendy and informative forum, and I hope I can be as much help to all of you as you have already been to me.

I actually found this one on my way to go look at a 94 AWD with about 400whp. That one had a ton of mods and was just more $$$ ($7500) than I wanted to put into one right now.

I'm picking this one up tomorrow and this week-end I'm also getting a 86K mile 92 six bolt motor with a 36K mile tranny and transfer case with a tweaked computer and ported turbo and whatever else I can pull off the car.

Did you get it yet? If so how is it? I am on my second 1g dsm, I still have them both but my first one(gst/fwd) has blowby and low compression, I keep it around thinking I may rebuild the motor someday, the fwd drives are very fun in thier own way, In a lot of ways more fun than my awd. Anyway back to my point, I looked for over a year for a nice 90-92(i prefer the pop ups). I ended up finding one in my city, a one owner, lady owned w/no mods at all, of course 90 5 speed, awd with 120k on it, and in great shape for $3300.
I have been real happy with it so far, I am putting on a B16G and some 550's in the morn.
Anyway good luck with the search and please do not get in a hurry and buy one you wont be happy with, as I did on my first. Also welcome to the other side :p

Picking it up with my trailer today. Anybody know the best anchor points for the tow straps on these things?

The 83K motor I'm getting on Friday has a new ACT clutch with ~300 miles on it, kinda helps justifying buying the other motor/drivetrain. I have a lift in the garage so hopefully the AWD change out won't be too big a deal, I've ton a ton of RWD clutches before.

Kinda excited but anxious at the same time, I felt better finding a relative low mileage 'Virgin' than one thats been through and possibly abused.

most a stock 6bolt has ever taken so far 550Whp. Most I've ever heard out of a 7bolt is 453Whp.

In stock form, I can totally understand the craze with the 6bolts. When it comes to building motors however, a 1g 7 bolt is superior IMO.

You mean the 1g 6 bolt is superior?

Ok,

tomorrow I promise. Too tired from the "Wax on- Wax off" Routine tonight! That and rigging and unrigging the car on the trailer!!

Where can I find OEM body molding clips and Weatherstrip clips?

I'm picking up the motor on Friday, I'll be modding next week!!
