ok like the title says i am new to turbos and have a few questions...I searched and didn't find what i was looking for so sorry if this has been asked 3000 times. this is for a 90 Plymouth Laser RS-T

1. what is RFL ?

2. i know that Venting your BOV to the atmosphere is bad, but i see all these BOV kits that come with Recirculation kits does it still make the sound between shifts ?

thanks in advance

- Jon

ok to start of rfl stands for real fuc**** loud and no some bovs are mad to vent to the atmosphere and i have a turbo xs rlf and have no problems venting it all depends on the bov and the car but with the rfl u will have no probs

1. Really f**** Loud
2. yes, just not as loud
3. questions like this should probably stick to the general and newbie areas of the forum, not engine performance.

Sorry i wasn't exacty sure where to post this... so what your saying is if i buy a RFL BOV my car will not run sh*tty even though it is venting to the atomosphere? thanks again..

Venting to the atmosphere is something I wouldn't do if you do not have the GM maf. Our maf sensors are before the turbo and running a bov that vents "even though it's made to do that" causes our cars to run very rich b/c your computer has already calculated the proper amount of fuel for that air and when your venting it, your losing some of that accounted air which means more fuel than needed. On the other hand, using a GM maf with a vented bov is ok b/c the maf sensor is located after the turbo. A friend of mine has an HKS ssq bov and when he shits, there is lag all b/c he has a stock maf and he runs to rich.

Agreed, non turbo engines don't need a bov. after looking at the profile i'm now confused as to why this question was even asked.

If indeed you do have a turbo motor then DON't VENT. It serves no purpose. It can be done correctly with a GM MAF (as was stated), but otherwise you'd be putting the motor through hell. (even correctly vented it still serves no purpose other than noise).
