okay i been searching for this but haven't heard of anyone slipping with Low miles, ONLY 90miles.
I just installed a spec stage 2 clutch in the 420a and i'v been babying it for 90MILES NOW and i just went on the highway for about 3 minutes and when i was kind of going uphill in 5th gear at 2500rpm. It slipped from 2500-3000 then i let off..now this is the first time i'v brought it up to 3000rpm..
i thought maybe uphill in 5th would put a lot more load on it, So is this slipping just because its not broken in yet? or if it slips once, At All, it will keep slipping? i adjusted the clutch pedal and all..in all it feels good..
also is chattering normal? people say its bad if it chatters?
this is the first non-stock clutch i ever got so i dont know how how they act and i cant really go back to the guy i bought it from because he was some local seller and he sold it to me brand new...it was completely sealed right before i installed it,
Nothing Greasy touched any part of it

Sounds like a spec clutch. They're garbage if you ask me. I've personally watched too many fail to ever touch one.

And yes, in all my instances (10+ clutches) if it slips once it's basically done.

More than likely you'll be looking for a new one now. I'd at least drive it out and see if it improves. Can't hurt anything now.

I'm using the spec 3+ on my gst and havnt had any issues yet. I've gone to track several times and it holds awsome. It did seem to take a little longer than 500 miles to break in. But once it did it really feels great. I even have there lightened flywheel and throwout bearing installed. I've got probably about 3-4,000 miles on it and many hard launches from 5,500 rpm on my slicks. If you feel theres and issue take the clutch out and send it in. They do warranty workmanship just like every other good company out there.

I swear by Spec's oem replacement clutches. I had no clue they made stage 2 clutches etc.

Did you have your flywheel resurfaced? Did you clean it with acetone/break cleaner afterwards? Did you clean the pressure plate? Did you wear rubber gloves handling the flyhwheel and clutch?

If you get any grease or oil including oil from your skin on the pp or flywheel or clutch disc that will cause it to slip. When they slip they usually glaze the #### out the pp/flywheel and it gives you no hope of ever getting to not slip without removing and have your PP and Flywheel resurfaced.

I had a spec stage 3F clutch in my starion and my car made almost 400rwhp and it never slipped once for me but I also broke it in and my flywheel was resurfaced prior to installing the clutch. It is possible you have a bad clutch but I wouldn't say all spec clutchs are trash. Hate to say it but you'll probably have to pull the tranny to see what happened. Good luck.

How do you know if its done being broken in?
And i had just adjusted the clutch master cylinder today and went for a drive and it doesnt seem to be slipping..hopefully that helped:pray:
Also i made extra sure everything was clean..im using a brand new fidanza flywheel and the friction surface was clean i even wiped down it all with acetone.

For me it was when it stopped being so chattery on engagement and down shifts. I did also need to readjust my clutch peddle after awhile it seemed to be to high. Now things are great peddle feels perfect. I actually got about 500 miles on it and went to the track the same week I installed. I raced 3 days striaght with no issues and got my fastest pass to date. For me even after those races it still didn't feel broken in all the way till about 7-800 miles.

oh dear.well i have a little more to go LOL im at 250 today..i will be putting some miles on it this week to be sure if its a bad clutch..it wasnt slipping at all today so im in good spirits for the time being...

Sometimes if you get to much heat on the clutch before it's properly broken in. It will glaze over abit and could also slip. It's like when you do a brake job you gotta break them in for a few hundred miles before really slamming them. Or else you will glaze the rotors over and they will either squeak or warp. So just go lite on the clutch for a few hundred more miles. I was told by spec to atleast allow 500-700 miles break in.

UPDATE: okay so i believe the problem was the clutch pedal adjustment. it had a little too much pressure on the clutch and made it slip. After adjusting it i havent had the problem. theres 850 miles on the clutch now with NO issues so far. it grips real nice and hasnt slipped since. :hellyeah:
