GofaST4life has 17x9 +35 with 255/40/17 tires with about a 1.5-1.75 drop and only rubs when he makes really hard turns. I am looking to go this route when my tires are used up. His car looks like a beast.
You're right, that car looks damn good but "looking" like a beast and making that setup function are two entirely different things. If it ONLY rubs in hard turns then he can't autox it or get hard into a corner, which sucks when you've got the wheel/suspension setup to turn hard. It doesn't seem like a big deal until it's your setup rubbing into a hard turn, that rubbing sound followed by the smell of burning rubber (from your wheel wells) leaves you cringing.

What I'm trying to say is, you can spend all the money in the world on a nice suspension/wheel/tire setup that's meant to take corners hard. Then you take a corner hard and it rubs, which is a real kick in the balls. I have this problem too and it sucks...

Gofer, you are correct, the rubbing sucked in the beginning. But like mentioned, I did a mild rear fender roll and after a few AX events the rubbing has stopped completely. The ONLY time I have rubbing now, would be on a VERY hard sudden turn. Like having a hair pin or 90 degree turn on an AX course right after an opposite transition. On a track, where the corners are smooth and what not, she wouldn't rub one bit. I've also never had them rub on the street. My setup functions exactly as it should IMO.

I understand what your saying. But after a few events and tweaking the suspension, she no longer rubs. And when she did, it wasn't nearly as bad as you might think. I ran this car very hard last year.

Im not going to autox. Just not into that to much. That set up is what i would like. Now to find a good set of rims.

If you want some more pictures of the car, check out this thread. The 255/40's are nice a square on a 17x9 set of wheels. And just for reference, I have measured the tires and they measure out at a hair over 10.5 inches wide, at 266mm. So wider than the claimed 255/40. Not all tires/manufactures are exactly the same. :thumb:

I spent the better part of 3 months last winter researching and looking at tire/wheel threads to figure out what offset, wheel width and tire width would give me the most grip while hiding them within the stock body. I also didn't want to run a fender flair or have a lot of poke.
