I recently hooked up with a pretty decent deal on a '95 Talon TSI. The previous owner ran into a heard of deer and had the vehicle totaled. He sat on it for a year and then offered it to me as I had asked him about it a few times. I was able to pick it up for under $1000 and it has 118K miles on it. As you will see from the pictures, it needs some work but I figure about 700 to 1000 dollars and it will make a nice daily driver for NEPA. Anyway, I have been reading the forums and have picked up some decent information and wanted to let everyone see my project.

that looks like a pretty hard hit, does it have frame damage?

No frame damage that I'm aware of. Basically the rad support is the closest thing. If you notice, the bumper wasn't even pushed, I guess the deer stayed high. (No pun intended). The car actually runs but due to its condition, I'm not planning on turning it over until I replace the support and radiator.

Welcome aboard. Nice find, but I noticed in the pictures that it has developed a bit of car cancer (rust). Check out this picture

notice the rust around the strut tower? I can't tell how bad it is, but I'd check the entire car over for any bad spots and get them taken care of...nasty climate the engine bay looks like it had an acid bath

It definitely needs some sweet lovin all around but I think the paint is pretty decent on the balance of the car. I'll be sure to hop on the rust as soon as possible to keep it from having its way with everything. Other than that, I hope to have it ready to drive in about two months. I'll keep my own webpage up to date with pictures and post here as necessary. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions. Thanks for the welcome!
