hey all new to the forum. I picked myself up a 100 % rust free 98 gst out of staten island for 700 dollars. Engine was knocking, trailered it home to Connecticut and once home in my garage I pulled the pan to find that # 2 cylinder rod threw a bearing. Previous owner had installed narrowband, boost gauge, Chinese 16 g, manual boost controller and 560 cc injectors, not really sure what brand I believe they are evo injectors they have a pinkish top to them correct me if im wrong. I had the car a few months and after showing a buddy of mine the car when he stopped over he decided to look for one also, found one in ct for sale for 800 dollars!!!! we took my truck and trailer went to look at it, thing was in terrible shape, rotted very badly all over the place but the engine fired up and ran very well/smooth. My buddy passed on the car I told the guy I would give him 400 dollars for the car and I was only going to use the engine for my car, after a lot of back and forth we settled on 450 bucks!!!! So $1150 later I have a running gst, I did all the work myself in my garage, I have a very mechanical background, I am in the middle of rebuilding my 05 duramax from the ground up with the project just starting as head gaskets. I am excited to be part of this community as I have wanted a 2g since I was younger. I look forward to sharing and receiving information with everyone here on the forum!!! By the way is there any dsm stuff going on in ct or is it completely dead here?? haha.

Welcome. I've found it handy to have 2 cars around when working on one. We used to refer to mine as the prototype when working on my buddy's car. We would check mine any time there was a question about how something went back together.

Welcome to the site. Looking forward to having you. A 2 car is always good to have but sometimes dont have it around. I do. Could look on net or on here also.
