Well, I knew that there was struts to be done, and possibly a TPS.

This was followed by a check engine light, yesterday. A quick run to a service station yielded these results:

1 injector going bad. Replace all for $1500.

Transmission going bad. Replace for $2700.

My current estimated bill, if I go through the jackholes at the service station, a lowly $5800.

Woot. And I only have $700 into the car. DSMs are awesome, no?

So, as crappy as that all went, there is a crooked rainbow at the end of the tunnel.

I had my body kit on craigslist, looking for trades for stock parts. Wanted to get rid of my chrome taillights too. Ghastly.

Got contacted by a great guy named Chad, who was wanting to trade his stock side skirts, front and rear bumper from a 1999, for only my blitz side skirts.

After some negotiation, and him having to travel 100 miles, the deal worked out like this:

I gave him 20$ for his gas, my side skirts, and two Chuck E Cheese gift cards (got for free) to use on his kid.

He gave me his front and rear bumpers, and is sending me his stock taillights.

So essentially, front and rear bumper, and taillights, for $20. The front bumper isn't much to look at. Cracked in several places....but it's good enough to throw on my car in the meantime, and the rear is in excellent condition.

Now I just need to find someone who wants my blitz rear, and see what I can trade for that....

The saga continues....

You updated your blog but neglected to check your thread about your problems..

I didn't neglect to check it. I simply didn't respond to my thread.

Why would the two things be connected?

Because your blog is about the same car.Same problems, same costs..I could almost repost the thread in your blog and the words would almost match right up..

Sorry to sound like a dick but it seems the blog is the exact same as your round two of repair costs thread..

I didn't see anywhere that my blog had to be different than my forum post. The only rule I saw was to keep questions to the forums. Which is why no questions were included in my blog. Except for one rhetorical one.

One was looking for advice on the mechanic situation. The other is a journal entry documenting my new car.

Sorry to sound like a dick, too, but what difference does it make what I include in my blog as long as I follow the guidelines?

HA ha ha Now I understand..One was problems, the blog is about the build/facelift..I get it man..Carry on Sir..

Hey whats up with the 1g you mentioned at the beggining of the blog?

1992 TSI AWD. Picked it up from a used car lot/junkyard, with the owner saying it didn't run. $700. Threw new sparkplugs in it, and a ton of fuel injector cleaner, and she started right up.

At which point I discovered the turbo was blown, and a bunch of other problems. I had a 1990 300z, 1989 Supra, and 1971 Mustang I was working on at the same time....got in over my head, as you can imagine. Ended up letting the car go. Sold it to a guy in AL who wanted to restore it.

Ended up losing the rest of my cars shortly after, so I guess it didn't make that much of a difference....still, wish I had found a way to keep it. :banghead:
