I'm gonna be using a 2.4 block and either going 2.2 or 2.4 but either way I want to pick up one of these new Perm-Torque Felpro gaskets and use some L19 head studs but don't know wether to get a Hg for a 2.0 or a 2.4 or if there is some special one you have to get. If someone is using one with a 2.4 stroker or destroked build and could give me a part number that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Well if your using the 2.4 block it wouldnt be a "2.4 stroker" it would be a "2.4" Your not stroking the 2.4 to anything. LOL:thumb:

I talked to alex before about this and he told me you can run a 2.0 gasket on a 2.4 block it hangs over alittle but not enough to be an issue. Im not sure about this or if i would do it. Currently i am running a regular g4cs composite felpro on my 2.4. Had the sucker on 29 30psi on c16 and 24-26 on pump and still no issues what so ever. I acually got most of the stuff for the new setup "gt4294/ on-green performance manifold/ 044 pump/ jays racing altenator relocation kit, so we will see how far i can go on a arp/composite felpro/ non o ringed head before she lets go LOL. Jut gotta get it on and get the 4" turbo back v-band setup made. :rocks:

Leave it to carver LOL. Yeah I didn't mean to say 2.4 stroker as it would be a 2.3 stroker not 2.4 and that wouldn't use a 2.4 block anyway.

Anyway yeah I may just try and use the 2.0 hg and some l19 studs. As long as the Hg matches up with the block it should be good but I wanted to make sure you didnt have to use a special gasket. I'm not even gonna risk using a regular felpro gasket. Besides I can get the perma torque plus hg for free :sneaky::shhh:

Let me know how it works out, get some pictures, hopefully i wont have to find out for myself and it holds up LOL. If it isnt broke dont fix it i guess.

Let me know where you get the hook up you sly devil

im pretty sure the 2.0 gasket works just fine. I put a 2.0 composite down on my 2.4 block and it seemed to fit fine. I don't really think it hangs over anymore than it does on a 2.0 block, but I could be wrong. the perma-torque may also hang over more than a composite gasket on a 2.0 or 2.4. I'm going to be using the same gasket(permatorque) on my 2.4 block(g4cs) so I will post pics unless someone beats me to it.

Yeah definatly get some pictures up. We can race to see who finds out first LOL. Is there any guys O-ringing the head and/or block with these gaskets. I searched and didnt really get any info on them.

I was debating about that too but I think that's part of the reason for using this. Mate this gasket with a set of l19's and your set for just about anything you can throw at it:rocks:

just to answer the question, a felpro MLS is a 87mm bore, the g4cs is a 86.5mm bore, .20 over nets a 87mm bore. so yes it does work, I have one on my build.

I just installed my Perma Torque MLS HG last night on my 4g64 with 87mm bore. It fit very nicely. I cleaned the deck surface's with some rubbing alcohol and sprayed a little copper spray on the HG, and I used L19 head studs. :) Hopefully this thing seals without worries?

Yeah, why not just go OEM MLS?

I used the copper spray on my MLS, worked like a champ.

^^^SBR tells me that they pretty much install the perma torque on all the ir builds, including the 4g64 hybrids, and they are the best HG's in their eyes. I trust em.

Cool, your in wisconsin like me ^^:thumb: gotta meet up some day?

I have had my 6 bolt 2.4L since 2005, and built only one more 6 bolt 2.4L 4g64 since then. I can't speak for others, but here is my personal experience. My 2.4L has the same Cometic headgasket (for the 2.4L) from 2005 with arp's torqued to 100 ft pounds. The motor has never seen past 25 psi, I don't know what hp level I am at, all I know is that it is still together and I have used it as a daily driver since 2005 on the Cometic headgasket. The other 2.4L that I built, upon my friends request, and against my own advice I used a felpro composite 2.0L headgasket. I torqued the arp's properly once again, and afer about 9,000 miles he had low compression. We took the head off to find that the felpro 2.0L composite gasket blew between the cylinder wall of piston 3 and 2. Lastly, after talking to maperformance, their opinion is that after testing a few headgaskets on their shop cars over the years, they advised me to use their very own headstuds in combination with the felpro permatorque headgasket for the 2.4L. While both of the motors I put together have never seen past 25 psi, from personal experience, I would use what is tried and tested, atleast pertaining to this specific issue being the headgasket. I would not use a 2.0L gasket on a 2.4L hybrid, from a cost perspective, wouldn't everyone use a one size fits all? I know it appears that it works for other people but I am not a proponent of using a 2.0L gasket on a 2.4L, it is comical and goes against logic!

ALP, if your friend blew the head gasket between cylinders than it was most likely due to a warped block or running lean assuming that the head was flat, the nice thing about the composite gasket is that it acts like a fuse when the motor starts to run lean instead of melting pistons. I've been running the standard Felpro $34 with regular ARP's up to 30 psi with no issues like many others:hellyeah:
