Hey guys just wanted to share this because I'm very happy about it. Just picked up a Holset hx40 turbo from a cummins here in town for $150. It's in good shape with lots of miles but very little shaft play.

I plan to rebuild it, and swap out the compressor wheel with a 6 blade then going to need a Bep ar. 70 T3 housing to put it on the car. Also gonna polish up the compressor housing a bit to give it a little shine. I'm very excited about this turbo, and will eventually compound it down the road with my other turbo.

Here's a pic

Don't get to excited about swapping it to a 6 blade as it will require machining of the compressor cover.

You should see if you have the rare 60mm 8 blade though as its most likely a 58mm wheel.

I have a 60mm HX40 compressor cover for you and I am in need of a 58mm cover. Let me know if you indeed have a 58mm cover and I'd trade you straight up if your interested.

I will let you know, I still got to get the compressor cover off. Damn thing is stuck on there tight. Once I measure I will let you know what it is.

Anyone got good trick for getting off stuck compressor housing?

Nice! Let me get that from you..

Which the 50 trim?

No I got the snap ring off, that was no problem used my pliers as well. But the compressor cover is stuck on really good. It should just pull off now...

...and the center housing as well. The 8-blade exducer is 83mm while the 6-blade is 86mm.

If you're not planning to run at least 30psi, stay with the 8-blade wheel.

Ya am planning around the 30psi range, but well see how things end up. You think a local machinist would be able to do it? I've found a 6 blade for $50 (60mm/86mm) like you said. To do the machining, the compressor cover has to be machined the extra 2mm and the center housing 3mm. How difficult would it be to have the center housing machined? (Price?)
