I replaced my fuel pump and have taken it in and out several times now. Each time the gas gauge picks a different spot to sit on and doesnt move. It moves freelet right before i put it in the tank then for some reason once its all the way in it catches on something.. and i have no idea what it could be. Any tricks to doing this?

AWD? Could the float be touching a baffle in the tank maybe since it is free when you have it out and in your hands? Just thinking how my tank looks when I am in there. It isn't close to touching the new pump is it? If so bend the hanger ever so slightly.

yes awd... i can pull it out and move it thru range and get needle to move... but as soon as its in no dice... I thought it was catching on the retuen line inside but now i dont think so after trying to put it in several ways.. I started with float to left and turning clockwise and then did the other way and finally tried just dropping it in straight... probably a baffle or something but i cant get it arrrggghhhh

I thought I could see baffles in my tank is why I even mentioned it. I have a Aeromotive 340 in mine, so far so good....but have other problems. What pump are you using, I didn't look at your profile.

Having you tried ohming out the level sensor and seeing if it drops out?
doesn't compute, it works just not in tank!

Perhaps its cocked slightly to one side, and it mat not be completely pressed down on-top of tank "plastic cap screw ring".

i just put mines in yesterday and i noticed a difference in how it sat, based on how i had it cocked/ angled.

i dont know.. ill have to take it out again and play with it.. never have i had this kind of issues with a car LOL

Question, your ring how is it? i noticed today during a log at WOT it started leaking from the ring(cap). i'm wondering if yours is working fine (sealing).

Mines sealing fine... but my ring looks nothing like that. It sits on top with rubber tabs that go through the pump housing

Nvm.. thats a 2g ring
