My bothers car is starting to be a pia. Finally start it up and oil looks to be steadily dripping from the pump cover/filter housing area.Everything is torqued down, and this is a BRAND NEW long block, built by overbore..wtf could be wrong? Also, we installed a brand new (not rebuilt) oem transfer case, only to find it still leaks fluid at the drive shaft input??Why?:ohdamn:

Transfer case was more then likely caused by not installing the shaft correctly and breaking the seal. Also when you installed the oil filter did you put the gasket on? I know it sounds stupid but Ive known people that forgot or it fell off while installing it.

Im pretty sure there is a gasket on there. The timing belt was cover in oil so I was thinking it was inside somewhere.

Hey Man,
About the oil leak from the front case area.....I just recently finished my first rebuild and had a huge leak from that area. There are multiple things that can leak and end up dripping from the bottom of the front case. I will list a few of the places that I know.
1)If you did a Balance shaft elimination kit, make sure you RTV'D the bolt that goes to where the balance shaft belt pulley went.(search I am sure you can find pics)
2)The 2 bolts that hold you Timing belt tensioner on go all the way through, so if they do not seal, they will leak. I ended up RTVing those 2 bolts also.
3)I ended up having ripped crankshaft seal on my brand new OEM seal. You can read about it here:

I just replaced that crankshaft seal and I am no longer leaking oil, hope this helps.

+1. Also the block-off plate for the front cover can sometimes pop out and cause oil to leak. To prevent this it's a good idea to put a little JB Weld around the seal.
