new ebay intake manifold...

To go off topic, or back on topic again, the manifold pictured on page 1 is one of the cheapest efforts I've seen. It looks like the 'plenum' is nothing more than a small intercooler end tank. It's not even a plenum. Look closer at the space above the far left runner- the end tank is almost covering it. That'll hurt flow.

There's cheap, and then there's Too Cheap!

U are incorrect. On a stock manifold, there is no gap between the runners, there is a hole in the flange for the EGR port, and all the runners start turning towards the center of the manifold RIGHT off the flange.

Yes, the runners are WAY too short however, and it looks like they were just trying to mimic the veilside for a DSM application.

I wouldn't even consider that. looks like a cheap piece of shit.

Wow thank you for your great technical answer. At first I was thinkink that some sore of test would be needed to verify the performance gains on this product, but aparantly we have a product review guru here that can save all of us time and money.

Get a clue.

got a clue "wiseguy". looks like a cheap piece of shit, and I wouldn't put it on my car. i'm not sure how technical I can get with that. other then thats my "impression" of it, notice I stated "looks like a piece of shit". "thinkink that some sore of test" LOL, next time you flame try not to sound like an idiot. OH NO I got a red square for posting this, LOL.

On this board we care about facts not what people think. So while you may think it sucks it may perform great and the only way to find out how it actually performs is with a test. I didn't think that was hard to understand but then again your post speak volumes.

edit: just got to looking at the runners, they are like 3" long or something!!!
Well "apparently" (has two p's not one) the person who started the thread was asking us what "we" thought. I have tried my best to clear that up for you. so maybe........ just maybe, you will see that the volume of my reply fit the question he was asking. I mean did I really have to state that its a no name IM on ebay for 240 bucks as my reason for thinking its probably not all that great? I guess I did.

Look here is the deal for the slow kids. He ALREADY knew it was a cheap Ebay product, so what exactly did you bring to the table that wasn't obvious? He wanted to know if people thought it was good or bad design and I am willing to bet my next pay check he would like a GOOD reason why they thought it was good or bad. Now I know if all we had was pages upon pages of people saying "it sucks, that things is lame, or looks dumb" then this site would be laughed at as far as technical merit goes. Now while that may be ok for you this isn't your site nor is it the way we do things around here. A simple reading of the site rules would make this horribly obvious.

This thread is two pages of people having an educated discussion about facts and theory that back up there thoughts as to what they think of this manifold. You came in with your great wisdom of "it sucks", with nothing to back that 3rd grader argument up, so what do you expect to happen? It is obvious you have nothing technical to add to this discussion so move and have a good day.

That manifold looks like a copy of the jun manifold which retails for around 1800$. I say it be worth 300 to find out how it actually works.

I would like to get a few of these new manifolds and see how they do next to each other on the same DSM. Obviously the problem would be gettign ahold of them, cost wise, and finding dyno time. I may look into this and try and contact a few of the vendors to see what they might be willing to do. I also know a dyno operator who might be willing to help for some free exposure.

As awesome as that flow/dyno test is on all of those, i would also (like stated before) like to see an updated list. Run the JM, and this one. And any new versions of manifolds that have come from these prior tested smim's.

I'm torn still on how i feel about it, the rounded design looks like it could work, but i don't like the velocity stack design. I can't give much more than that, but if i had someone hand me this manny or 300 bucks (that i couldn't use anywhere else) i would be willing to try it out.

Sidenote: I think it's absloutely rediculous how people come in here as new members or recent members and argue with our Wisemen. How can you not understand that you only reach wiseman status if you really know. . . pretty much everything about these cars. I don't care how much prior car experience anyone has with other cars, it's been proven time and again these cars are NOT a typical car. So please show respect where respect is due, i know i listen to wisemen over just about everyone else here. And there's a reason for that. . . THEIR FREEKIN WISE!

As an FYI, that link of tests I posted above was organized by the RMDSM club back in 2004 with support from the vendors/individuals listed on that summary page.

There are no plans (by them) to further test manifolds nor were conclusions drawn by them for the original list of manifolds tested (this was not their objective). They provided only the raw data from the same car with the same tune, with only the different intake manifolds as the variable. From this one could make their own conclusions based on their own application and requirements.

Michael was speaking of a whole new test with different manifolds, different car..etc
Obviously, because of this, any subsequent testing could not be directly comparable to the original tests, but would be really nice to see some of the newer players (JM, DVTFAB, eBay) as well as some of those that missed the first go around (Extrude Honed 1G, Cyclone) if even to see how they perform against each other and a stock manifold ;) :dsm:

Even if this performed great I wouldn't buy it. The warranty and return policy is horrible.

Ebay dude said:
Warranty and return policies

All new parts come with 30 days warranty (Valid 7 days after products shipped)
Buyers are responsible for all shipping fee (include all return shipping fee). Shipping fees are not refundable.
Product must be returned for refund.
A returned product must be in the brand new condition, must never be installed, must come with all parts. Attempting to repair the product will void the warranty. Misuse will also void the warranty.
Refund minus 25% restocking fee
Buyer must contact me before returning the products
No refund or return for buying wrong product, not fit or change mine.

So I can't install it to see if it is worth a shit but if it isn't worth a shit I can return it. I do however have to pay for shipping and a 25% restocking fee. No thanks.

did you happen to check out his other manifolds along with his 100% feedback? i like his style of manifold making because really high horsepowered supras and skylines run the same design. short runners, and tappered plenum and those velocity stacks look better in the new auction. i really dont care about the return policy. if you guys buy a lot of stuff and sell a lot of stuff on ebay then you would know that the best thing to do on ebay is threaten to give the person bad feedback if something is wrong with the item(i.e. does not fit...) LOL...its like having the seller by the balls!:thumb: and im sure this guy does not want to ruin his 100% feedback, so he is not going to argue if something is wrong with item.

I agree with the feedback. I never give anyone good feedback until its installed or i've tried the product. The warranty does suck though so im not arguing with that.

The runners are really really short compared to most SMIM's. Otherwise the design "looks" good, not necessarily saying the weld job is good, thing could blow for all we know.

His feedback is directed more toward supra's. I didn't see any feedback yet for the 4g63 manifold. Still too early to tell how this intake is.

The Plenum itself and the Plenum baseplate, runners and flange look to be separately cast pieces with the only welds being btw the two pieces and whatever TB flange is used. As such, I'd expect this piece to be strong as hell and have less welds to worry about.

Would definitely like to see one actually installed in a car as fitment is just as important :dsm:

This cyl.[1] will draw the least amount of air due to the fact airflow will try to continue in it's direction of travel. Either because it don't like to turn corners or the venturi effect of passing over the top of the stack??? Either way when it hits the wall at the closed end of the manifold air will start to stack up and feed the farthest cyl the most air.
#1 gets the most air and least fuel.

Thanks.
