hey guys I would like to start off saying I like the forum site and i find it very interesting and helpful. Let me give you a little background of myself and my DSM.
In case you were wondering about my name yes I am a Honda owner and new to the DSM world (and boost world) yes I like Hondas i think there very practical and all around good cars....but their hard to make power with and parts are somewhat expensive and hard to find. I love the DSMs i think there great looking cars with lots of parts and lots of potential! Heres where i stand at the moment

-Just bought a 95 GST cheap (has a few issues) no biggie (so i thought)
-Plugged up K&N filter ran like crap (fixed) with new plugs runs waaaay better now
-Bad hub Assembly (fixed) was a nightmare... but six hours later got it done goes down the road nice now

Now i still have some issues left... 1. the turbo (makes a humming noise at full boost) 2. the aftermarket BOV (blitz) I did do some of research and I think im going to get a turbo rebuild kit and get that bearing fixed (is hard to do?) Im pretty sure thats whats making the noise ?
Also I noticed the BOV is just venting out in under the hood area and im pretty sure that why i still have some stalling issues? Suggestions for my setup? (see pic)
Finally last night on my way back home My after market Glowy gauges started blinking; on off on off (yes very ricer i know) but what concerns me is the blinking is accompanied by a very faint beeping like a check engine light? any thoughts on that?

My short term goals for my DSM is fix some of the small stuff and just drive it for a while im not looking to build it up right now....maybe next year boost controller and ECU for some small tuning get up around the 250hp range ?
If i still have the car down the road I would like to get the GSX setup (AWD) and start making like 300hp range. this is my very first post be gental :D

awesome that you joined the dsm community.

You should recirculate that BOV better yet get a OEM one, most people just get the OEM 1G BOV. the noise from the gages sounds like some wiring was done incorrectly and it may be shorting out intermittently. If you plan to own an AWD, then i suggest you do it now before you put more money into that gs-t.

Also, the secret to success and having a DSM working on a "long term" basis is doing any modifications right, no short cuts, and dont buy cheap parts, 10 times out of 10 they will fail and you will end up paying more in the long run.

Buy an OEM turbo rebuild kit. range from 120-200 bucks. Its the eassiest thing to do. But the easiest upgrade it to get a 16g, or evo 3 16G "big 16G". 250HP is very doable with minor upgrades.
Enjoy your car and treat it good

i would recommend to go ahead and get a front mount intercooler, hard piping and a evo 3 16G. price range is about 650-750 for all.

1. Is the turbo smoking under load?
Hav you checked for shaft play?

Done bother wasting money and rebuilding the stock unit, save your money and purchase at least a 14b turbo (stock turbo on 1g) and the install kit..you'll notice a good difference. :)

2. Recirculate your bov, sell that junk and get a stock one for now.
Yes, that is probably why your having stalling issues.

3. Im not a very huge electrical guy..are the "flashings" and what not only happening on the boost gauge itself or the entire car??

Well if he's in a situation like me with a Turbo going bad sometimes you don't have the extra 150$ for an install kit and what not. Atleast if you rebuild the stock Turbo keep it so when and if you upgrade you have a back up Turbo

That's quite a bit for a Turbo rebuild kit. I've seen great sets go for 50$ let me find the one I'm talking about. Also if your not mechanically inclined to rebuild a Turbo jusmx does rebuilds and he knows his stuff

well i found what im talking about here:

Forced Performance Turbochargers: FP Turbo Rebuild Kits

and you might be talking about the cheapo doo-doo like from here:

cxracing.com: Turbo Repair Rebuild Rebuilt kit TD05 Turbocharger

for t25 cheapo doo-doo:
T25 Rebuild Kit : Godspeed Project by: Godspeed Project - Driven By

life is full of options, some people always go for the cheap options. do what you wish, its your car, your money your choice and your experience thats what makes the world go round!!!ROFL

yes the turbo is under load (i believe) its doesnt "hum" or "sqeel" out of gear only om gear and after 2800rpm or so.
I found the rebuild kit on Ebay for 60 bucks for a stock T-25 yes im on a VERY tight budget at the moment
and as for the lights...you know how u have your gauges on at night so you can see all your interments? well some only put in a crappy indeglow color background for the gauges like blue green and i was hot roding last night and the just started blinking like the WHOLE internment panel rpm speed the whole setup but u can hear that very faint "bing" "bing" along with it ?

idk just rip that bi*** out go OEM?

That is the strangest BOV I have ever seen.. Anyways, welcome to the community.

welcome and like everyone said get rid of that BOV and get a stock 1g BOV and recirc it. plus the flickering ## having could be the alternator on its way out, i've been there before. get it checked out to see if its working properly.

Probably bad alternator if it's the entire car, and yes go with OEM..or just find another t25 for cheap and save yourself the hassle of doin the rebuild.

i promise its not an alternator i tested it and the battery before i bought the car im pretty sure its the cheap ass glow gauges wired wrong or something

Also do any of the turbos you mention bolt right on im starting to think about just putting on a new one now or something i can afford otherwise im just gunna get the rebuild kit til i can get a nice one

ya next step prop gunna get the OEM BOV 1g right? why not 2g?

Well then it wouldn't be the alternator then.

I'd just start out by checking how the gauges are wired up

the 1G BOV is the closest/cheapest "upgrade" thing to an aftermarket BOV in performance. its been said to be the best OEM BOV out there.

Its a legit blitz bov. They sell a recirculate fitting for it. Or you can get and OEM Evo 8 bov or Evo 9 bov. both are bolt on. The 1g bov will need some IC piping made.

Did the PO give you any receipts for any work done?

No, by the tape off work and the cheap dash glows im guessing they did it themselves, no big deal most people around here do work on their own cars, i do most of my own stuff ill have to look into that BOV part that'd be cool if i could just use that one.

While the Evo 8/9 blow off valve are slightly better options than a replacement 2g blow off valve, you can get a 1g blow off valve for just as cheap, it is a better unit. Can be modded to hold a lot more pressure, and you can get a bolt-on flange.

Plus when you go to a front mount intercooler in the future you won't need to upgrade that blow off valve again.

Not the cheapest version of said adapter flange. You can probably find em on ebay or other places.
