i just put in a 2.5 inch downpipe a couple days ago, and now when the engine is cold the turbo(t25) seems to make a " high pitched bird chirping noise"? but goes away wen it reaches normal temp, i am going to check for any shaft play today. And also i need to get a new BOV so how long is it safe to run the turbo without any bov for becosue of the comprssor surge, i will not be pushing it hard due to the comprssore surge, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Your spelling is annoying, anyways your saying you have no bov at all? When you change the downpipe it's normal to hear the turbo a little more, but a screetching noise. That could be the blades hitting the walls.

It could also be a belt screetching, since you said it goes away when it warms up. You could check your harmonic balancer to be safe. Making sure it's not seperating , bent or anything.

Hey... DID YOU REUSE THE EXHAUST GASKETS?? if so, that COULD be your problem.. minor exhaust leakage.. will cause noise you wouldn't imagine.. LOL like Birds chirping...

I always put new ones in... ### when I reused my gaskets once, it made annoying noises.

I have heard that if you run without a BOV that it sounds like a "fluttering" sound, but I dont have any first hand expence with it. If you are runing without a BOV I would try and keep the boost below 6-8psi to make sure you dont hurt anything (it shouldnt because a lot of stock set ups dont have BOVs and it never hurts anything).

i had somthing similar, made a weird squeeling almost like a supercgarger, I found out it was an exhaust leak, in your case the metal probly expands and the sound goes away, worth checkin out.

Hey NYK4LIFE, for future references, it's best to always change exhaust gaskets whenever removed, specially the one between the exhaust manifold and the turbo, mine used to leak through there when I reused the mitsubishi metal gasket, it actually made my electronic boost controller spike and take away boost consistenty due to exhaust gas pressure excaping between the turbo and the manifold, not to mention any exhaust leak will leave a irritating noise if you ask me. Oh, and when I also reused the gasket from the O2 housing to downpipe, TIGHTENED IT DOWN VERY WELL TOO, it leaked and nearly burnt my alternator up from exhaust gasses.... hehe... take care man, hope that was the problem. You also need to hurry up and get a BOV, you don't want to stress your compressor wheel out, not to mention, you can cause your turbine to shake rapidly and hit the compressor housing walls, as mentioned earlier.!!
