Well I finally replaced my clutch, and now I have an even worse vibration. Before re-installing the clutch I had a speed specific vibration (in, out of gear or accel or decel it was still there) ... NOW... I have a acceleration vibration.

My question is, during the install of the clutch, the main driveshaft from the Xfer case was hung using a hangar (a la' VFAQ) but, the hangar came undone while we were out and the driveshaft was hanging for maybe 40 mins.

I suspect the tranny mount, but could that hanging of the DS cause it that fast? What exactly goes wrong when it hangs?

If your carrier bearings were already bad off, hanging the driveshaft from them at an awkward angle for any length of time would make the vibration worsen. (assuming these were causing your vibration initially) Get under the car and see how easily each piece of the driveshaft moves close to the carriers. If they move very easily in any direction, you may have found your problem.

My car has bad carrier bearings right now. (car vibrates between 45-60mph and vibrates slightly under heavy load at any speed) I ordered new bearings/u-joints and a yoke kit so i can rebuild most of the shaft. My shaft moves almost a half inch in any direction very easily when you push or pull on the shaft. The shaft should move a "small" amount under a good amount of pressure, but should be very firm in those mounts otherwise.

Make sure your rear motor mount bracket is bolted on, and the bolts are tight.
