Katy(just west of H-Town), Texas
:thumb: I finally put my first mod on my car... a hp racing cyclone intake. Wow the sound is amazing. way different than the stock airbox. and I ordered my 4-2-1 header and high flow cat from nopi.com today so I'm finally on my way. Just thought I'd share my joy :D

P.S. I highly recommend a CAI to all of the guys not switching over to turbo (like me) I picked it up off of nopi.com for 127 shipped. nice strong attachments no modding at all fits nice in the fender(actually behind the bumber, but oh well)

Thinking about the water issue, would getting a air bypass valve be a good thing? I have seen them range from 59 dollars all the way down to 6 bucks? Anyone Use one and is it effective insurance against my intake becoming a straw?

bypass valves are highly recommended with an intake that sits that low to the ground.

i've heard of a bypass valve.. i figured they would come with the whole CAI intake system? im gonna assume they dont and ask how u put them in!:D

well so does yer CAI if its syphoning up water, perhaps theres another way of getting past the water issue, such as a section of piping, that egts drastically wider, to prevent enuff low air pressure to syphon water up..... but i guess that would also decrease hp. Oh well, looks like were stuck. Anyone have any problems with CAI sucking up snow?

rawR!! how does a bypass valve work. If its not that big of a deal leave it in for day to day driving.. then take it out on a dry track night:thumb:

im not too educated on bypass valves...but i believe u have to cut the intake and then put the bypass valve at the cut and then put each end of the cute intake pipes on the bypass valve.

the bypass valve just collects water that is attempting to pass through ur intake pipe.

it wont really help if u hit a 3ft puddle but it definately does help if its raining or if u hit a little puddle

i have the ractive cai and havent had any problems with the omaha ne weather (no bypass valve)

you see though here in houston the drainage is not good at all, right now my street is flooded halfway up my driveway case in point it rains alot here and it looks like that air bypass will come in quite handy

You have to completely sub-merge the filter for the engine to hyrdo-lock. I drove my GS in some pretty bad storms in CA but I tried not to drive the car when it's raining. If you have flash flooding or poor drainage......I'd reccomend getting one even though they look uglier than dog poo......

It's low but I dont see how I could flood it, unless water reaches up to my bumper. And what kind of a dumbass would drive through that much water any ways?

So you must have some type of H20 detector on your car........ Search on here and your find some the "dumbasses" that your referring to.

Mine hydrolocked in a flash flood, knock on wood, you could be the next dumbass

You have a high rised RS, that might expalin your off-road abilities. Nice racing stripe by the way

forget what a bypass valve is, theyre trash, just dont hit puddles fast, or aviod them overall, i drive my car with my CAI all the time, sinse last summer, not a single problem all fall, winter and now spring
