does anyone have and cold air intake from ebay on their car?

like this one

If so could i get some pics and how hard was it to install??

Thanks
Zac

I personally don't have one on my car, but I did install that exact Cold Air Intake on my buddy's Avenger and another one on a NA 2G Eclipse. I took me about half an hour on each car and they haven't had any complaints in like a year or so. It makes a better whistling noise when you are accelerating and that was about it. I don't know if it made them faster or not, but it gave a little bit of the bling factor. I would recommend it for the price of the intake.

im thinking it will take you about 10 or 15 mintues to install, its pretty easy. Just if you buy CAI of ebay buy a K&N Filter its much better then the crap they give you. :thumb:
You prolly should of put this in Newb section...

thanks guys, i did plan on getting the K&N filter.

SnowWhite - since you have done it before could you maybe give a really quick rundown on the install so when i get it i dont screw areound for an hour tring to figure it out. I bought one for the neon i had before and it took an hour or so to figure out how to mount it. I guess the main thing i dont understand is the mounting bracket thats not attached to the tube. How does that piece work? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Zac

also i just thought of asking you, Where does the filter end up sitting? That will help solve a lot of headache.
Zac

i think your right, thanks that will help a lot.

Are you getting a short ram or a CAI? instalation is pretty much the same except one extra bolt on a cai, but i was just wondering.

As for the removal and installation:
I've done it a long time ago so i might be a little off, so some one please correct me if im wrong.

First open the air box, remove the air filter. Behind the filter there are a couple of bolts ( 4 or 5 beileve) remove those and you can pretty much take off the bottom part of your stock intake.
Then take off those clamps by TB and you can remove the top part of the intake.
To install a Short ram: Assemble it comletely before you stick it in there. (refer to the pic esi-slowboy provided) Then attach it to a TB and tighten the clamps and you are good to go. :thumb:

I hope that helps and i hope i didnt leave anything out.

i bought that exact one in the link i made. Im looking at the pic on the car he gave me and cant find that mounging bracket anywhere. Where does that connect to?

The one with holes in it? i put my in the garbage when i had a short ram (i actually got 2 of them) :D

You dont need it, i tryed messing around with it and figure out where u stick it in, but then i decided to put it in the trash. :p

ESI-SLOWBOY.....................your Talon makes me touch myself. I really don't like the look of most Talon's, but yours makes my heart flutter. hahaha.........

what abou the one thats already connected to the tube? where does that connect to the car?
Zac

I bought a cold air intake off ebay from RacingHouse, it fit up perfect didn't have to remove battery and took about 30 minutes to install. Great deal for 45 dollars shipped.

ESI-Slowboy, you got those Hotwire spark plug wires...how do you like them. I hear about those things frying plugs and coils all the time on Neonspeed. Just wondering how their treating you.

I notice that there are two nipples comming out of it. I know the one goes to the top of the valve cover but what connects to the other one? and where does the monting bracket thats already welded to it connect at?

Damn $20 mine was $10.50 LOL cheapest one off ebay, it took bout 45 min to hook up b\c i had to move the battery over and custom fab some tie downs, im still using the air filter that came with it, the top of the filter was just a fine screen LOL not much filtration, o well. ebay CAI is the way to go for cheap HP :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: sounds tite too :)

You only need 1 of the nipples on the intake. I couldn't figure out where the bracket went so i just cut it off and grinded it down. It still fits nice and doesn't move.

well i finally got it in the mail and it doesn't look like the one in the pic at all. It only has the one nipple so that solved that problem. However there are no mounting brakets attached to it at all. I have both shown in the pic but both are seprate. How do i mount this thing. I haven't gone out to try yet(its like 5 degrees right now) But im pretty sure it needs to be held in by something. Any help and pics would be great. Thanks.
Zac

I put one of those on my old 96 esi and I couldn't get it to mount right. There was an extra spot for a bolt, but nowhere on the car to bolt it to. It ended up kinda hanging in the breeze, but never fell off. It made the car sound a little meaner, but it still felt really slow. But it is shiny!! Bling!! :D
