New Alternator, ebay any good?

Hey guys,

Had the brake, coolant, and battery light come on early this week. Searched the forums and found out it is an alternator problem (without your info i would have been lost). So thanks for the information first off.

I called a few local parts stores (kragen, autozone, napa, etc) and got a new alternator quote. All of them were $140+, even with my dad's discount... I checked on ebay and found this:

DSM Talon Eclipse 95-99 Alternator : eBay Motors (item 320485718404 end time Mar-10-10 06:14:43 PST)

80 bucks shipped, and says it fits the 95-99 eclipse/talon TURBO.

Has anybody had any experience with these? I did notice that there's no returns, no warranty. Worth a roll of the dice?

Don't do that, a lot of junk yards will sell them refurbished for 60 bucks. Actually my friend just got one rebuilt. They look and perform like new a lot of the junk yards also give you something like a 15000 mile warranty if THEY install it very few will let you retain a warranty if you install it yourself.

I'd just forget the ebay crap and call some junk yards in your area there HAS to be one no matter how much in the middle of nowhere you live, actually it would increase your likely hood that there is one very close to your house as most cities will not allow junk yards with in the more highly populated areas or nonindustrial areas of the city. Plus most of these places don't want to pay higher taxes.

I always buy my alternators from junkyard.

15$ + 15$ for a warrenty incase you pulled a bad one.

always look for one that jumped time or was wrecked because chances are the alternator is good,.
