first my set up.
PTE 50 trim set at 15psi for tuning.
FMIC, 3" GM MAS, 2.01 version MAFT, 680cc injectors, Pocketlogger w/ MMCD
AFPR set at 38 w/ line off.
Problem:
I had to tinker with my CAS to get my car to idle properly due to the injectors, I have it running so smooth now, but if i shoot the timing, it is advanced quite a bit. I had read other people have to do this when running bigger injectors due to deadtime at idle, so I tried it and it worked for me, but i am worried about the advance and the problem below might be related.
I started tuning by cruising and setting my base knob, going on about a 30 mile drive at 65mph on the highway, watching the O2 trim cyle and the high trim. I got the O2 to cyle as close to 100% as possible and got my high to be 99.6%, which left me with my base knob set at the setting for 610cc injectors.
Next, I did some slow pulls under gradual acceleration watching for any knock on my palm. If I just boost at say around 7-10 psi at like 1/2 throttle, I will get a good steady pull and zero knock counts. As soon as I get it to wot though, my knock count goes off the chart like 20-50 counts.
So what i did next was pop the hood and turn the wot knob to 5 click to the right to make sure I didn't detonate.
I am STILL getting fn'g high knock counts.
What i did next was tried to set the base knob back to zero and zero'd everything else out also. This left me with the knob set at 580cc. So this should be plenty rich and I for sure wouldn't get any knock. Guess what, wrong answer, Fn'g knock is stll there, 20-40 counts under WOT acceleration and at only 15psi.
WTF???????
What should I try next?
Crank up my fuel pressure a bit?
Would retarding my timing w/ the CAS help this out any? Because my engine is running so smooth now, but if I get rid of the knock, I will do it? I just want to be able to to some WOT pulls so i can log them without melting a piston.
