I'm in the middle of my 4g37 to 4g63t swap and I've run into a HUGE snag with the engine harness.
At the ECU location, there are 5 plugs on both the 2.0 harness and the 1.8 harness. 3 of these are yellow ecu connections, 1 is a fuel pump relay connection, and the third is the interior harness connection.
*NOTE* The 1.8 side is a MANUALl harness, and the 2.0T side is an AUTOMATIC Harness. And I have verified that the 2.0T harness is 91-94. Also, the car is a '93.
On the 1.8 side of things, the interior harness plug is a 14 pin connector with only 9 filled pins. The 2.0 side however has a 18 pin connector with 16 filled pins. I was under the impression that I could just splice over the wires from the 1.8 side to the 2.0 side if I matched colors.
Well I did that, and it left me with 7 unused wires, and now I only get power to the dash dummy lights, the windshield wiper and sprayer, the horn, and the light inside the A/C switch. So apparently I can't rely on just the colors.
Here are the wires I spliced over.
On the interior side (manual):
Black
Blue w/ Red Stripe
Yellow
White
Red w/ Green Stripe
Green
Red w/ Black Stripe w/ Silver Dash
Red w/ Black Stripe
Now using some info I've found on the Engine Harness Side (Auto):
Pin 2 Yellow w/ white = "Power" mode from AT switch (shouldnt need)
Pin 3 Brown = accelerator "on/off" switch (shouldnt need)
Pin 4 Red w/ white = runs between CC computer and trans computer (shouldnt need)
pin 5? Red w/ green stripe = check engine light
Pin 6 Red w/ black = AC clutch relay
Pin 7 Red w/ black = Power to AT control unit (shouldnt need, but might be shared with memory power from ecu, hence the ? on top)
Pin 9 Black w/ red = factory boost gauge
Pin 10 Black = Ground to cruise control computer
Pin 11 Yellow w/ red =Self diagnosis connector for AT control unit(shouldnt need)
Pin 12 Green w/ white = TPS signal to cruise computer
Pin 13 Blue w black = from fuse block to inhibitor switch (shouldn't need)
Pin 15 Blue w/ red = power window relay
Pin 17 White = Self diagnosis connector for AT control unit(shouldnt need)
Pin 18 Green = Idle switch to cruise computer
Now I've got a discrepency in the info above, and what I've actually swapped. Here is what I've done with the auto side of the harness:
Pin 2 - Yellow w/ White - Not needed
Pin 3 - Brown - Not needed
Pin 4 - Red w/ White - Not needed
Pin 5 - Red w/ Green - CEL
Pin 6 - Red w/ Black - A/C clutch
Pin 7 - Red w/ Black - May need
Pin 8 - Black w/ White - ???
Pin 9 - Black w/ Red - Boost gauge
Pin 10 - Black - Cruise comp.
Pin 11 - Yellow w/ Red - Not needed
Pin 12 - Green w/ White - TPS signal
Pin 13 - Blue w/ Black - Not needed
Pin 14 - None
Pin 15 - Blue w/ Red - Power window
Pin 16 - Yellow - ???
Pin 17 - White - Not needed
Pin 18 - Green - Not needed
Pins 6 and 7 are both Red w/ Black stripe, however, I think Pin 7 is Red w/ Black stripe w/ Silver Dash.
I'm really at a loss as to why I'm not receiving power to the rest of my interior. Assuming that both harnesses use the same colors to send power to the interior, I should have everything I need, correct? Any clues as to why I don't have power to everything?
EDIT: Ignore everything below this line-----------------------------------
So Pins 8 and 16, what do those go to?
